Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
it sounds like they are just trying to suck whatever $$ they can out of the situation.
I wouldn't do it man, the burdon of proof should be on them, not you. If THEY feel the turbo isn't stock its up to them to PROVE it. What if they said your clutch wasn't stock? would you then be responsable to pay for the driveline to be removed in order for them to confirm? Thats BS. Stand your ground homie.
Thanks guys i have been, just got off the phone with them and i asked what turbo is it and he said he didn't know he would find out for me. the service writer has been cool about it. I told him i bought it the way it is. Im 99% sure its stock turbo esp. for the power it makes. They said they cant move forward to diag it until i authorize 5 hours of labor. I called the warranty company and they said that is how it is if its internal motor issues. I know their is bent fins from when i did my ac condenser so maybe thats how they think its aftermarket. I dunno what to do now. I payed almost 3k for the warranty i dont want to get di@ked on that.
What is making them think the turbo is aftermarket OR that it was switched out since you made the purchase? I would ask them that question first. Also pull your paperwork and check to see if there is a DIAG fee for repairs. 5hrs for a turbo inspection is a little on the high side. Maybe 2 hrs for a complete newb. the OEM PN's are right there on the comp cover, all they would need to do is pull the intake snorkle.
that's f-ed up. I cant see how they rationalize 5 hours of labor to identify the turbo. Maybe an hour to remove the intake or under-tray.
There has to be a way to prove a turbo is stock without removing it. If they suspect that it has been modded, then they need to show strong case for that.
eitherway, its shady. I agree with marc, fight to the death on paying that. There has to be some law protecting the consumer in these cases. Otherwise every dealer would require 50 hours of labor checking that you haven't touched anything, before they fix your problem.

The diag time is for them to check and see what the failure part is (rod, head, piston) they were questioning me about the ic piping and he was like did you change the turbo? I said no why he said its bigger than stock. I asked what turbo is it and im still waiting to hear back from him on that but long story short is the diag time is to pull the motor apart
That sounds about right to pull the head.....and like we all said earlier, they will find ANY reason to deny you any warranty work. If they saw aftermarket ic piping, just keep a note in the back of your head that youre pretty much screwed.
