Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
If i do that event though, no way I can do trackdaze later in the month.
I didn't mean it in a bad way.
what pads did you go with? we gotta get you braking correctly so your pads don't wear so much... you should still have like 90% left after only one day, lol.

It looks like I wore a good amount off in just that one day. I still have plenty of life on them but I figured it wouldnt hurt to have a extra set so I'm not scrambling two days before an event to replace them.
Also I have a lot of things to work on. Brakes are one thing. Tim didn't say anything about my braking on Friday. That's not to assume I was doing it right. It was probably because there were bigger and better things to deal with.
If I were an instructor I'd be pretty nervous about some noob whipping me around a track at 100+mph their first time out. I'd probably prefer them to over use their brakes for my sake!

btw, in the for what its worth catagory, I'm not sure if I'm totally in love with the XP12s. I still need to pull them off to measure how much pad I used over the last 3 track days but I have a feeling the wear is going to be greater than the XP10s and I didn't notice that they were any better to justify it... I didn't notice they were any worse either though. The xp12s are supposed to have more initial bite than the xp10s but I felt the opposite. Maybe I'm just not braking hard enough or I need to do a back to back comparo at the track between sessions to really 'feel' the difference.
Only positive thing I did notice over the xp10s is that once they get bedded in they don't make any noise on the street like the xp10s do. That is a plus

Marc, to answer your question: I'm running the xp10 front and xp8 rear.
Mine make little to no noise. The one passenger rear side makes a small squeak but that's it and they got quieter after transferring some material to the rotors.

Marc, are you using them any differently than you were with the XP10s? Like, tried braking later or something. I would at least assume the 12s should last longer since they take heat better.
Since we're talking abotu brakes, I really like the ST43s I used in my last session at NJMP. Only problem was I really needed a more aggressive rear pad to make up for the fronts. I talked to Mark about this at the track. I'd like to try them again at the next event, but I may not get to.

my 'thinking' is that the XP10's have more than enough torque for the 255 Z1's I'm running. so stepping up to an even more aggressive pad probably didn't yeild any better results because I wasn't able to take advantage of the extra stopping power due to my setup. thats my uneducated guess anyway.
