oh hi there.

in other news I ordered the last round of parts for the e30. I'm about $500 into it so far not including tires and driveline fluids. Everything is coming along nicely, I should have her back on the road next week sometime.

What kind of parts did you have to get Marc, belts and such?

What are your plans as far as rubber?

Im still angry at you for buying this e30 ... we were going to build a miata together.

My dreams have been dashed upon the rock.

mostly maint stuff. Timing belt, water pump, gaskets and things to make the car reliable. you have to do the timing belt every 4yrs/60k which ever comes first and since the PO stopped driving the car in '08 if figured it was time. I was seriously worried the belt was going to let go as I pulled it into the garage. I was very happy when I finally had it in there. I also ordered new OEM replacement struts since it was on the original blown 200k mile units.

Not sure for tires yet but more than likely I get 205/55/14 star specs.

Miata would be nice but I can't get past the gay stereotype associated with them... not that there is anything wrong with being gay.

you're welcome to co-drive anytime you want mr. co-driver.

I have some miata tires/wheels you could have for cheap. I think they are 195/65/14

All seasons of course, but in very good shape. The wheels are probably the wrong offset, and i think 195 is the widest tire that can be mounted (though maybe 205 is possible)

the upside is that the wheels weigh ~11lbs each

haha, i used to get waved at by middle aged men in their miata's. I usually returned the favor with either a flyby, or the middle finger.

yeah, ima bada$$.

this is also why i put a rollbar on the miata, i got a lot less "thats a girls car" comments afterwards.

no doubt. a decent driver in an EVO should be no match for a stock e30. I looked up some of the spec e30 & NASA track records and they're a little slower than what I'm used to. Lightning is a 1:20 and TB is a 1:38.

who knows, maybe this car will see some TT action next year.

I would think doing a 1:20 at Lightning in an E30 would be hailing the mail... Not sure what all can be done in a "spec" E30, I'm sure a decent amount of upgrades, but that doesn't sound that slow to me.

You need to buy some bigger wheels btw, 14's just aint gonna cut it.

I have a minute so I thought I would look to see whats available... in that size there isn't too much, mainly some autox and competition tires. No Dunlop, no Hankook... nothing really. StarSpecs are available in 185/60/14 and 195/60, thats it for a 14" wheel.
