I was thinking of doing the same but wasn't sure if the insurance would only cover me for BMWCCA events...? Thats a great price for 6 events.

No way I am doing an event without insurance, that is my plan going forward when I register for an HPDE.
Fixed the language for you.

Just drive smart and defensive. Not racing for time in hpde.

not to sound like a douche but unless you're an advance level driver trying to take it to the next level, you shouldn't really be crashing your cars.

if you're in green and crash, then you're either doing something you're not supposed to be or you're so nerved up that you go and wall the thing.

i understand accidents and mistakes happen and the results can be pretty bad and i guess i'm not thinking of the poor inexperienced guy like myself who early apex's a turn, runs out of track and instinct makes him try to save it and ends up balled up in a tire wall......

My biggest fear is not myself losing control, its someone's car losing fluid while I am behind them causing me to lose control and hit something. Seen and heard about it happening a lot. Accident do happen.

Fair enough, but you don't know what other people in group are going to do, so you could have an incident with some other car that isn't necessarily own fault, but what does it matter if your car is wrecked. Insurance is a wise choice for ANY HPDE driver, experienced or inexperienced and everything in between.
Guarantee that every year around the country there are incidents with all level drivers at these HPDE events. Every time I went to an event at Pocono I think I saw someone wreck a car. Beaverun I lost control making a minor mistake, actually 2 minor mistakes in a row, car placement and then lift caused me to spin. I would have considered myself a beginner / intermediate driver.

most incident i've seen at hpde are usually single car and nearly all the time driver errors. it fine if you feel more confident having insurance but dont feel overly confident that you're going to try stupid things. having a little fear is good, its what keeps you from doing stupid stuff.

me personally, i dont track a car that i don't already own.

i do this for fun, not to be famous or make a living. safety is the number one concern for me. i make the car safe first before i make it fast. when i'm on track, i'm more concern about safety than i am at putting down fast lap. even with all the safety equipment i have, it's still no where as safe as a proper race car but i still have to keep my car somewhat street legal.

this is a terrible assumption- professionals crash too.
don't forget cause of accident can be beyond the drivers control (i.e. mechanical) so you should never forget that.

I would have to agree that everyone crashes, no matter what run group you're in. As Marc stated, if someone has a mechanical and oils the track in front of you, you're never gonna see it coming and if you do it will probably be too late already.

Fineburg, having seen you in action, you should really think about insurance for autox.

that is why I am a big fan of getting a dedicated (disposable) track car. I love my EVO and I don't want to wall it but I also don't want to cage it and make it a track only car because I enjoy driving it on the street, even if it is mostly to and from the track, lol.

I have an event in two days with 175 drivers who haven't been on track in months and are all probably itching to test their new setups... lets keep talking about crashing.

Does track insurance only cover car damage or bodily injuries also. Id be more concern with that than the car.
