Ok, I did $28000, so that seems like comparable pricing. In my opinion, insurance is a must with the value of these cars, my baller status is not on that level to be able to just tin can my Evo.
This seems like a legit email:

I think next season im going to work insurance into my budget for the whole season. When I checked it, it was around $1000 for 7-8 events. For now, I may just piecemeal it for tracks I've never been to.
This year I bought myself a 6pack of HPDE ins. Cost $612 for 6 events with my BMWCCA discount. Covered the car for $18.5k + $4.5k worth of mods (suspenstion & wheels). Not a bad deal.
I feel better about you guys and track days seeing you are insuring your cars. If you guys do enough events, someones luck is going to run out and they are going to have some type of incident with car. With that said hopefully I am not the guy with bad luck! No way I am doing an event without insurance, that is my plan going forward if I register for any HPDE.
