Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
I was once like you, Tim. It took my friends 4 years of constant hounding to finally get me away from the drag strip and at my first HPDE. I thought, ok whatever, I'll see what all the fuss is about, this HPDE stuff can't be all that. Boy was I wrong! I can still remember coming in from my first session @ Shenandoah, hands shaking, shirt covered in sweat and in a daze (it was with Trackdaze) with a huge smile on my face. I haven't been the same since.
Tru story bro.
You can keep playing GT5 and doing one or two autoxes a year or you can sing up for Watkins Glen with the rest of us and start a new chapter in your motorsports life.

I just find it funny some you guys have done all these track events and never drag raced. I get it, it's now boring and easy once you have been on a track. One things for sure....**** ain't easy! I want to show them it's not near as easy as what it seems.
I especially like all the big talkers I meet at the strip. My car can run 12.5, since I know a guy that ran this with the same mods. Then he goes out and runs a 14 sec. I just

!!!
I know the types of people you are talking about but don't lump me into that catagory. I used to run the ***** off all my cars, so have a lot of people in this thread. I had/have some great memories from drag racing, like running a 9 second pass in my Z06 and running a 13 second all motor pass in my VR6 or my first pass on n2o and my first pass on my VR6 turbo with forged motor that I built myself in my garage. All good times, but times change and honestly, after you do a track day, the thrill of waiting around for half a day to make a hand full of 11-12 second passes just isn't there anymore, for me at least it wasn't. I know i can spend a little more money and get TONS more seat time on tracks that have longer than 1/4mile straights.
I also got tired of chasing 10ths of a second at the drag strip and the thousands of dollars you can spend to do so. Believe it or not, HPDE is MUCH less wear and tear on your parts than 1/4mile mostly because you aren't launching a 3500# car from a stand still. I've seen some expensive breakages at the drag strip due to launching and also from people running their motors on the ragged edge trying to get that extra 10th or 100th. NOt so at an HPDE. On the track power will only get you so far, you have to be able to carry speed thru a corner AND brake well to be fast around a race track. Adding only power without adjusting the other two is usually a step backwards. ONly thing you'll wear out at the track, if you are doing it right, are consumables like brake pads, tires and gas.
IMO it also takes much more skill to race on a track than a drag strip too, especially if you are one of those guys with an automatic.
NOt to take anything away from the manual guys, but come on, lets be honest, with launch control and AWD getting decent 60's is pretty straight forward... if you want to drive something difficult try launching a FWD turbo car, IMO that is about as hard as it gets.
There was a guy at WGI last weekend with a 35r EVO who said the car will do a low 10 high 9. I said is that what you did or is that what the car can do. He said "no, people have run that time with almost this exact setup", I said not to be a d!ck, but there is a big difference between being able to run that time and actually running that time. He got the point. This guy was also saying he was doing 160 before the bus stop just 'rolling' into the throttle. We all just kinda looked at each other and scratched our heads, lol.

PCD Dictionary
Trollin' - The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Trolling does not mean just making rude remarks: Shouting swear words at someone doesn't count as trolling; it's just flaming, and isn't funny. Spam isn't trolling either; it pisses people off, but it's lame. (See Dek0026)
Noob- Noobs generally get extremely upset over being beaten and can not admit that they are bad at the game. Often they will accuse the skilled people of hacking. (See igo4bmx)

I am not trying to be a "troll" or deliberately trying to **** anyone off. I am eager to learn more about the evo and the culture. I don't mean to get anyone frustrated.
whatever, dude. if you aren't a troll and really don't know the answers to the simple questions (what is google, what is autox) you're asking I feel bad for you cause you aren't too sharp. If you are a troll, then you aren't fooling anyone and I feel bad that you have to get your kicks playin games on the internet.
Either way its a lose-lose situation for Chu.

Per your comment regarding "google;" someone replied to my question with telling me to search for "autox" on google, so I followed up with a sarcastic reply. Everyone knows google...I felt that I could ask car related questions on this forum, so I did.
As for me not being to sharp, if needed I can belittle you in many things that would make you feel stupid but there is no need for that. I am here to make friends and learn more about something I love.
Have a good one.
As stated above, I am not a "troll" and do not mean to deliberately **** anyone off. I just want to learn more about the industry.

My 4th session on Saturday at the Glen. My first solo session.
Mad domination, son! I did have to point-by a E46 M on Hoosiers, I spent the rest of the time chasing him.
18min mark you'll see a Honda CRZ on course, never thought I would see that.
