how the **** do I remove the o2 sensor from the stock CAT. I've already stripped the screw/nut a little bit with an adjustable wrench. I am thinking if I should just cut the damn wire and get itt out once I have the old pipes out. I got the other bolts out using some wd40, but damn this o2 sensor. suggestions please.

I'll give it a shot. thanks. If I do have to cut the wire so that I can remove it after the exhaust is removed, I should be able to just reconnect them like the regular copper wires right?

Its not a simple splice. One of the wires is a heated line so you just cant simply splice them together. get a propane torch if you can.

damn, does that mean my best bet is to still try and get it off as it is ?

Hope my other installs don't suck as much, if I even get to them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the worst that can happen is I end up driving with a CEL right? I checked all auto stores to see if I can just get a new one, apparently only Mitsu sells them and they are upwards of 360. So I'm stuck trying to get it off. ish sucks !!!!

The dealer o2's are a RIPOFF. All that would happen would be a cel if you ran without the o2 sensor. Make sure you plug a bolt into the o2 bung if you plan to ride without the rear sensor. Sigh, I love the luxury of having a lift, air tools, and torches (: Poor guy

well, turns out there's a special 7/8 socket for O2 sensor removal. got it from AutoZone for 10 bucks and the sucker was out in 1 minute using a breaker bar.

The whole exhaust is out now. I am going to reuse the gaskets for the new one since nobody seems to have them and the existing ones seem just fine. Also, I'm gonna use the opportunity to recalibrate my LC1. It was never recalibrated since the install. Cool beans.

Welcome to the world of modding. It all seems to easy on paper. Good luck. That o2 is a ***** on the X's.

how was everyones impression of the autox? I have to admit, that was a very difficult course, toughest I can recall. if you had fun on this one you will really love the less technical ones.

Finally !!!! recalibrated the O2 and installed my new exhaust. All I can say is OMFG. The sound is just perfect. Its not too loud and not too tame. Just right. Perfect for what I was looking for.

That O2 sensor was a ***** only till I found the right tool. I'm gonna post up some details so that no-one else wasted time or damages the sensor screw even the little bit that I did.

The car is still on the Jack stands, I'm gonna do the radiator next while its up after taking a break. I got the standard Mitsu coolant to avoid any hassle.

BTW, my wife is such a doll. She was helping me since morning handing me the right tools to avoid me from moving in and out from under the car. Will be using a lot of her assistance for the other stuff too where needed.
