er wait. do you think i should keep these are my DD/pretty wheels and run the stock wheels in autox?

decisions.

my plan was to put summer tires on the new wheel and snows on the stock wheels.

Also look into the weight of the wheel. I feel that weight is very significant for auto-x. Though maybe not as much for track use, where rigidity is paramount.

stock wheels are great for snow tires.

Well, In general, everything else being equal, wider tire/wheel combination gives you a less sharper turn in but usually more ultimate grip. This is what I noticed when I went from the stock setup to my current setup.

About the offset, you'll need to go to a smaller offset with increasing width anyway to keep the distance between the rim and the strut under check.

the weds are 19lbs. that's not any heavier than the rz's or volks as far as i know.

i am not actively working on some super competitive autox setup because i still need to learn to do it well in the first place. i would however like to get something that i could turn in to a decent setup when my skills call for it.

i don't necessarily have to buy anything now. i just like looking and feeling impulsive. it's easy to hold on to $2+ grand for me.

That is more effected my tire choice then tire width.

Are you crazy? You're going to make a 120 into a 114.3, only 5.7mm away from the existing hole!

Depends on wheels you get. I looked into the TC105N, and tehy are just as light, if not lighter than the RPF1...size for size

If the tire brand/type is kept the same and width is increased, does it not behave in the said manner?

I meant to say tire choice then wheel width, not tire width, sorry.

I wouldn't worry as much about wheel weight as I would about width. go WIDE! you want the largest contact patch possible, weight is secondary to width.

IMO the order of importance goes like this

widest wheel you can fit
widest tire you can fit on that wheel that give you the best overall gearing
lightest wheel you can afford
.
.
.
.
.
.
how the wheel looks
