i am now trying to talk my wife out of a mazda cx-7 or toyota venza and into a used 3 series bmw. i keep seeing black (she wants black....she better learn to wash a car then too) 2007 3 series beemers with like 20k miles for like $23k. that really isn't a bad deal at all especially if you could negotiate a little off the price.
Just be ready for very high maintenance cost. Otto's charges something like $135/hr for labor. Bimmerworks is cheaper, but nothing for those cars is cheap... $1200 brake jobs, $100-125 oil changes...

I used to have an e46 3er and the only thing that was outlandishly overpriced were parts. Even then, they werent THAT outlandish. My local dealership charges 89.00 per hour labor (west german) which is about 20 bucks higher than most japanese import service centers. My father has had a total of 3 5ers and 2 7ers and all were great vehicles. I am a HUGE fan of bmw.

it isn't like i can't do oil changes and chu can do the brakes for me.

yeah i know service is expensive. she won't be buying parts for it. just driving it and maintaning it.

i love that video. you know we all kind of want to turn practical car discussions in that. i know i do. i don't want to talk about your wife buying a volvo. "how about a mazdaspeed3...you can get it tuned and it should make nice power."

They are nice cars... no denying that. You get free maintenance for the first couple of years too, but 15k oil changes aren't ideal in my mind.

Scott Honda charges more than that for labor... you sure those numbers are right?

That blows. What does it take to become a vendor? Is there significant money involved?

Timing belt is all done. Mishap on the clutch job because Chau recieved the wrong parts. There's an early model and late model 86', and we got the worng one. Chau goes through the BMW dealership he worked at for discounts, and they had to order it from Jermany, so it's gonna be a few weeks until it comes in. Soon though....

Fellow....I picked up a used ralliart uicp but it didnt come with couplers. the id is 60mm so i plan to get a straight 60mm coupler and a 45 degree 60mm elbow coupler to mate to the actual ic. My question is the couple from pipe to tb. Is your ic to tb coupler the same width throught out? Or did you need an expander?

I've been debating picking one of those up for a while but never pulled the trigger the limited amount of times i've seen used ones pop up. It's (to my knowledge) the only off the shelf uicp available in the USA that can be used on my car because of the SAS system. If i needed a UICP i'm sure i could come up with something, but my plans been to have a custom one built in the future.

Just throwing it out there, if you decide to sell it let me know cause i may just pick it up anyway.
