i've been watching autox videos to make sure i am familiar with pointer cones and whatever. god help me if i don't get a clean run this sunday.

my question is and this is what confuses me: when you see multiple pointer cones what does that mean and why does there need to be like 4 of them? like | <<<<

also look at this video at 1:28, what indication is there that tells you you need to go between the two sets of cones? there are no pointer cones just two cones.

Did you pound a redbull right before you watched it? It helps.

Other then that, this aint nascar so if they are low on cones or if someone is tired, you aint gettin no pointer cone beeotch!!

I thought if there were 2 pointers you went threw that gate twice. I might be wrong so tifwiw

it just blocks off side of the turn in an attempt to make it very clear where you are heading.

You always go between the closest gate. The pointer from the last turn, if setup properly, should tell you where to look for the next gate.

That section was a 3 gate slalom. The outside cones might have been superfluous. The line of cones inside served somewhat as a pointer.

Taking good mental notes on a course walk is important. It is sometimes very hard to read a course at speed.

Nope, your thinking of a double gate ... AA AA

The last sj auto-x had a triple gate. I think that maybe more than half the drivers had at least 1 DNF.

reading at "speed" is where my biggest break down was (amongst other things). i tried to learn the course and thought i was set. what i am focusing on this time is to at least learn all the little bits so that if i am at speed and question it, i'll know how to "read" what i am supposed to do.

who knows maybe porsche club will make a straight away followed by a slalom to a left handed sweeper to another straight away and it's done.

We'll walk throught the course several times. I've learned that you only need to remember a few pointer cones to see the entire course. Now making use of the cone and driving fast is another story!
