I love being a 30 year old married homeowner. I have State Farm. I pay $240ish a month for a $100 deductible on the Evo, our Volvo, homeowners insurance, and a half mill of life insurance on me and my wife.

I started out will state farm when I was 18... moved to all state the following year, Progressive a few years after and Gieco after that. I had accidents with all them and received the BEST customer service from All State & State Farm. Progressive and Gieco treated me like a criminal once I had an accident with them.

I've been with my current provider now for about 8 years with no at fault accidents. if you can get it USAA insurance is about as cheap as they come and they offer lots of other programs too like great rates on personal/auto loans. I forget what the coverages amounts are in terms of casuality/property and medical, but they're above state min. For 3 cars (out TSX, EVO & Silverado) w/comp & collision and a $500 deductable we pay $191/mo. At one point a couple years ago I was down to 171/mo for 4 cars (same cars as above but including the z06) but my coverage amounts weren't what they are now. it was only an additional $14/mo for FULL COVERAGE on the Z06... amazing! I guess its due to the demographic that drives them, lol.

The high deductible saves me a good bit of money. I've never had a claim with State Farm, so I'm sure that the money I saved over the last 4.5 years would easily cover the extra $500 should I ever need to file a claim.

Why do you think 50k/100k is too low? I would imagine that you would have to be very unlucky to destroy someones car that is valued over $50k. I would be interested to hear your reasoning though.
50k/100k is low i would def bump it up

Ben, it would be nothing for me to hit a 50k car, neither for you imo. You can spend 50k on a pick-up... I would much rather carry more than I need, than not have enough if/when I did need it. I've only ever made one claim on my insurance, so maybe the deduct could be higher, but...

As far as rates, we pay $174/month for the Accord, Cooper and the Evo (which Erie charges me a surcharge for high-horsepower/low curb weight).

James... stuffed peppers for dinner.

I think that my Father is/was a USAA customer. I'll have to check to see if that could be my in. A number of years ago, I got hit by a guy who had Geico. I dealt with his Geico rep directly, and I was less than impressed with them. They were pushing real hard to send me to one of their body shops. After I told him that my car would be going to my prefered body shop, he continued to be less and less helpful.

A few good things actually came out of that accident. I had a '97 VR6 Jetta that I had purchased for cheap because it had some very shoddy body work in the back of the car. When I got hit, the parts of the car that looked bad were the ones that ultimately got fixed. Another good thing that came out of it was that they paid me full MSRP for my JL 12w7. I was getting bored with having an overdone car stereo anyway. I sold my JL 1000/1 Amp to a co-worker, and I basically got out of the system for exactly what I paid for them in the first place. That doesn't happen too often.

Got a text from my sister this morning on the way into work... Sounds like she's putting their Rottie (Grady) down this morning. Kinda pissed I didn't know this last night, would have liked to have gone and seen him one more time. He's been suffering for a while, hind legs have given up.

I made the move from Geico to Progressive about 2 years ago and saved a tone of money. With the Evo and E30, I pay $143/month, liability with comprehesive on the Evo. Not bad for a 26 year-old living in the city. I would prolly save a ton living in the burbs....(insert Pete G. comment ) I can't say anything abd about Geico service though. I though it was well worth the amount I paid. I had an accident claim with then, and a stolen car claim. Both went by smooth, and they never questioned me. On the stolen car claim, I didn't even know it was covered. I was canceling the insurance on it, and they asked why...and sent me a check for doubled what I paid for the car! WIN!!

Pete, sorry to hear about the dog. Robert, Jim, and I talked about this last night, wondering what we would do in situations like that!
