Oh, its purely f&f's fault. Every kid is buying some backyard 240 for 3k then destroying them on public roads. I kind of feel bad for the kid. Trying to impress some people and he ends up taking someones life.

What do you HONESTLY think is an appropriate punishment for a 17yr old in that situation. 5 yrs for involuntary manslaughter can really postpone the prime adult transitioning years. I think it may even cause backwards growth in rehabilitating the kid. I can see the family of the deceased victim demanding life in prison! But I just don't think its appropriate.

Btw, here's a trick to getting cheaper parts. Call their parts dept and ask for wholesale. Say you're from xxxx auto service and that you need so and so for pickup. They'll most likely ask for the business' number for verification but that's it. A friend owns an auto service so I do it all the time. Even better is the fact that I know the guy so I get them delivered for free!

I feel bad for all parties involved. I'm sure the kid never had intentions of killing someone, he just wanted to be a bad *** drifter like Chau.

it's not there fault.
you can have a movie about people shooting each other and then have a gun shooting and blame a movie- too much of peoples actions are blamed from some "influence" but people are autonomous enough to make there own intelligent or unintelligent decisions.

that little trick works for pretty much everything you can buy retail... IF you can get a hold of the wholesaler and IF you have a valid (in most cases) retail sales license. Its amazing the wholesale to retail markup... usually 50% or more!

I see Marc is a bigger hustler than Chu the resident hus a tlaa.

Well, its not literally f&f's fault, but they sure did bring the trend mainstream. I definitely blame movies for being influential. Working on north broad, you can def see how easily people are swayed by movies and music. From the gang banger wanna bes to the black scarfaces. Even the ladies need to get the same weave some singer was wearing in some youtube clip. Marketing works!!

Ill scrounge up the article if I can, but it correlated violence to media. It didn't exactly blame the movies and music for a persons actions but it sure shed light on its influences on young kids growing up.

That being said, the first movie my kids see with me will be Heat. What a classic!

I feel bad for that kid... I don't know what the appropriate punishment is in a case like that. He has to live with the fact that he took someone's life for the rest of his, thats got to be a pretty **itty feeling alone. No one wins in that situation...

You know what else has a huge mark-up?

My *****!

I disagree, a bit. Movies and games like that create an unreasonable expectation of how a car will handle. Last f&f movie i saw, the kid is full throttle in his viper for over a minute, when a 90 degree turn suddenly appears, he jerks the wheel and doesn't even appear to brake. A real viper would be going 140+? the time on the brakes would be pretty significant.

Yes, this kid is an idiot, but makers of movies/games cannot simply wash their hands when these sorts of things happen. Maybe in a legal sense they cant be held reliable, but morally it should make them consider things.

Think about the whole "war of the wolrds" thing (which has happened many times, btw). People died because of a practical joke. I don't care if they were intellectually weak, its not cool.

I'm no badass drifter. That was the first time I've ever driven like that to be honest. Until last Sunday, I've never gotten the rear end to fishtail or spun on any car ever... I just like to put on the drifter/hella flush front with my 240

I'm just glad I never killed anyone when I was young and dumb(er). I did some really stupid **** and its only out of pure LUCK I never got caught or hurt anyone like that in the process. I would never be able to forgive myself.

but why should they care? all they want is your f****** money, which people gladly give them

We should hold people responsible for their own actions, regardless of what a movie said would happen. It does, however, go both ways.
