After reading:
Ohio's Chapter 5501:2-10 Traffic Fines in Construction Zone
(A) The state department of transportation, county commissioners or board of township trustees (agencies) shall authorize the posting of signs indicating that traffic fines are doubled for speeding within selected construction zones under their respective jurisdictions, and that penalties for killing or injuring any person within those construction zones are increased. This provision shall apply in any construction zone on a multi-lane divided highway where the work is expected to last thirty days or more, if the planned work length is at least one-half mile long, and if the construction zone is stationary. The signs may be erected in any other construction zone at the discretion of the director of transportation. Signs may be erected for construction zones located on other highways meeting the foregoing requirements if required by the agency’s procedures adopted under paragraph (C) of this rule or at the discretion of the director of transportation.
So fines can only be doubled for speeding according to that OH code from the gov website. So might be good news there assuming it's written up correctly.
ALSO
(B) The signs, sign location, and mounting shall be in accordance with the following:
(2) The first sign(s) shall be placed between the “road work ahead” sign or other similar warning sign and the next sign in the sequence. Additional signs are required for long construction zones or where ramps or through streets junction within the construction project work limits. Signs shall be erected on each entrance ramp, near intersections of through roads to advise entering or turning traffic, and at least once every two miles through the construction work limits.
There were no signs indicating that fines were doubled in that area.

I know its tough but try not to worry about this as much until you have all the details. You'll just worry yourself sick. You need to know the fine, if PA has an equivalent statute to what you were ticketed for(so the points can carry) and of course if the points/fine will be doubled.
Once you know all that you can make a solid decision on whether to hire an attorney and peruse it that way.
I'm just about the master of tickets. Not something I am proud of. I used to drive like an ******* and have had every possible type of LEO pull me over, one even had his gun out. Scarey stuff. In the end I've only paid a few fines and gotten three points. Mostly thanks getting an attorney when needed.
You did it right so far. Played it cool with the man and got pictures.
It's a long frustrating process and lets face it being guilty until you can prove otherwise is really frustrating. Not at all what we learned in civics 101.
On a lighter note, got lots of pictures. Started to go through them today to take my mind off the other matter. I'm loving the slight off road one. Can't wait to finish up and post them.

Starting to relax after talking with some professionals.
The weekend was very humbling! My qualifying times on Saturday were OK..right in the mix of it but once the green flag dropped on that rolling start on the backstretch going into turn seven, 4-5 cars wide at 100+ mph was complete mayhem! After the dust settled I probably lost 5-6 spots in less than 2 laps
! It then started to pour rain and cars started going off and I thought-the heck with this and didn't want to take a chance on the slicks....guess what-the rain stopped 1 minute later and I was in the pits! (good thing Brant was there to cheer me up as I was ticked!)Today I held back a bit during qualifying to save the tires, but during the race I lost boost on lap 2 so was toast after that...just limped it around
w2w reminded me of my first HPDE- complete sensory overload but incredibly exciting. It will be another learning curve to overcome, but it's blast!
Hey Brant, good luck with that ticket I know that can be tough stuff. Last year I had a bad run in with the law, 29 over, and almost had to get an attourney to keep my license. In the end they dropped it to 5 over, but I was sweating it out for a few months not know how many points it was and if they could take my license. Seeing as you are talking to the proffesionals and you did your homework, in the end Im sure it will work out.
welcome to the club of evo owners that has gotten tickets for doing nothing wrong.
sure, i've had my fair share of well deserved tickets, but i've also had several that were completely unwarranted.
one in particular sticks out in my mind, a couple of years ago with my first evo. i was going down streets run road, crossing over rt 51 and heading down past the fire hall. i saw a cop in the south bound direction on 51 sitting in the turning lane waiting to turn down streets run after me.
no biggie, happens all the time. i didn't think much of it. i get maybe a mile or two down the road and i see headlights blazing up behind me, roll to a stop at the first stop sign and get lit up like a christmas tree by barney fife.
he was young, even younger than i was at the time, and a complete *****. he made me sit in the car for a good 10 minutes until his back up arrived. since it was summer i had all my windows down and was able to overhear parts of their conversations...
"just give it to him, what's he gonna do?"
"look at that spoiler, who does he think he is?"
"he can't do anything about it, just give him the ticket"
so officer hardass returns to my window with a ticket for "traffic control devices" and proceeds to tell me that i was obviously speeding because it took him too long to catch me down the road.
too long to catch me? you were sitting at a red light for god knows how long before you were able to make the turn down the road.
then i get a nice 5 minute long lecture about how i need to learn to respect and obey traffic laws and that my car doesn't make me special just because it's nimble, and the problem with me is yadda yadda yadda.
at the time i didn't even bother to fight it because the citation carried no points. but it just goes to show that many of them are just out-and-out bullies that will take any excuse to flex their authority, and obviously it doesn't help when you drive a boost buggy with a spoiler the size of rhode island hanging off the trunk.

[QUOTE=metalsaber;8583527]On my way home tonight. I was approaching a construction zone which had signs for merging left. The merge point was not for another mile or so. There was a middle turn around/cop point with 2 cops with flashing lights. I realize that the cop pointing in my direction was was actually pointed of traffic flow as if signaling his intent to come out. I realize that if I stopped at the line I would have blocked him in. Stupid me, instead of stopping earlier to allow him to come out, I pull into the right lane. The whole time I'm going 35mph.
He pulls out into my lane. He turns his lights off and follows me. As I approach the flashing merge left signal (construction sign) I put on my left signal and almost come to a dead stop. As soon as I do, he puts his lights on. I immediate pull off the road onto the burm (right side). He says he pulled me over because I failed to obey 4 merge left signs (not true since I was in the left lane priory to pulling into the right lane). He goes into how people "race" down the right side only to cut in at the last minute. The problem was I was going 35mph and slower at the end. Also if I was racing wouldn't he have put down my speed?
He gives me a ticket for failing to obey traffic signs/devices. OH Code 4511.12. He also puts down that there were workers present, but 1.) It was 7pm on Sat. 2.) It was thunderstorming/lightning like crazy for the past 2hrs. 3.) I wasn't even into the construction zone since I hadn't gone into the merge point. 4.) There were no workers present in my area or any that I remember. I don't think they'd be working with lightning and thunderstorms.
man this blows! but on a lighter note if you woulda came to the shootout.........

Most bikers don't if your going tripple digits
They like that. Deputy dog loves a good chase. Much like playing catch with your doggie at home.
The best was when my radar detector went off while The Officer was giving me his "lecture".
"What's that?"
"My radar detector."
" Why DO YOU NEED THAT?"
"Parity."
At this point I actually saw his mouth start to foam.
