Need some help with an older 2003 Evo 8. My friend just picked up a yellow Evo 8 from swickley and it was this ladies sons car who died. Well the turbo that was in the car was blown, but she gave us another turbo. We installed the turbo a little bit ago and the car will go into boost, but it wont go past 4600rpms and just stutters rapidly everytime even when you arnt on it. Sounds like a fuel cut. We popped the hood and noticed the turbo glowing red from just cruising and made us think that the car is quite lean... Took one of the plugs out, and the tip is white and sort of smells like a sweet smell to be honest.. We just picked the car up this morning and wondering what to do. If its tuning related or something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Stock injectors?
Does it idle ok?
Does it ever go past 4600 rpm?
Do you have a tatrix cable? Maybe there is a valet rev limit you should check the ROM for mods.

We found it, the car is all weird... But the MAF was bad and one of the wires was off. It idled like it had cams but is good now! I have no idea what is done to the car. But thanks for the help guys!

yea we got it running ok, it has a innovative box inside, but doesnt work. It only reads error 02 heater and will not do anything else. the turbo timer works. Im thinking the T-case is shot though. It makes the worst noise ever when you are accelerating. even when you are accelerating a little bit the noise is horrible.. but when your just cruising down a hill or let off the gas it doesnt make the noise. The rear diff was just replaced, so im thinking its either t-case, or transmission.

Were you knocking during the runs?
I have crower 272 cams, turbo back 3" w test pipe, walbro fuel pump, injen intercooler and lower pipe, they made me put 1050cc injectors in, aem cam gears i mean i am only running 93 but i thought it would be a little more than that, and ian no it wasnt were you running e85 then?
It was on a mustang dyno though so i think you're supposed to add like 18% to it so 306 would be around 360 the only thing im curious about is my one friend who has a 9 with just an intercooler and an intake pipe stock turbo put out 295 on a mustang dyno
My #s were on Buschur's dyno.
