PCD: 2013-2014 Till We Break It Edition
Don't do it! You'll have to haul so much fuel its unbelieveable and its not available everywhere you may go. If you're going to track your car, you need to switch to 93. Everyone in this thread is going to agree with me on this, its just the way it is.

At $3.29/gal for 30 gals, that's $98.70. For 22 gallons of 110 at $12/gal, that's $264. Similar power levels at basically a third of the cost? I'd rather bring a few more jugs than run less power than I am now.
If I'm wrong with the 30-35% more fuel, please correct meh!
Njmp in April some guy in a subie showed up with 8 or ten large fuel jugs. He had them in the trunk, in the back seat, and in the passenger seat. Jordan told him not to go to Home Depot and buy fertilizer. ATF and FBI would have swarmed in on him. Btw he drove that way from way north( I think mass.)
I just stopped up at Tommy's on my break and 2 cars there are getting work down before TD event. One guy with a 4door Golf, getting lowered and stainless lines (he was actually there), and the other car was an STi getting lowered as well. STi will be running in Green, Golf in Inter. I also noticed the Golf had a fresh set of Hawk HPS on the front, I told him they aren't a track pad and I don't suggest he run them on track but I think my advise fell on def ears.
I burned through about 22 gallons of race gas at NJMP. You figure you use 30-35% more with E85, so that's just about 30 gallons. As long as I show up with a full tank and bring 4-6 gas jugs, I should be fine.

Last year when we ran TD at Lightning Mike was using almost an entire tank a shession. Just not worth it.
I'm probably the wrong guy to ask this because I don't practice what I preach, but, are u a good enough driver that u need the extra power on track? Not trying to be offensive but a lot of guys build power too soon and it hurts the learning curve. I don't know ur driving style ( u probably drive better than I do)
I was able to do 7 sessions with 22 gallons. Skipped my last session because I ran out of gas.
I'm not looking to make more power. I'm looking to make the same amount of power I am now, at a cheaper cost. That is the ONLY reason to switch to E85. I can't keep spending $12/gal to run 110 and I don't want to lose power on 93. I'm already used to the power my car has now. I don't want more, don't want less, just want equal power at a lesser cost.
If I can make similar power on 93, then I'd consider those options as well. It is just an idea at this point, I haven't made commitments on anything. I just figured E85 would be the way to go as far as maintaining my current power level, with room to grow down the road.
But if I'm going to burn through 80+ gallons (12 gallons a session 8x) over the weekend, then E85 can come over for dinner and have a fresh plate of my *****.

Is that e85 or pump?Remember, my first day was a learn the track and get solo'd day. Once I was by myself it was game on and I used way more gas in the two sessions I was out by myself, than I did the entire first day (4 sessions). I've never been to any tracks besides NJMP Thunderbolt and NHMS, but when I attend these tracks again, I expect to blow through gas.
I'm used to the power, but it just takes me the whole first day to get the line/track down - seeing as it's all new to me, plus I hit lots of traffic being a newb in a newb run group.

IMO 93 is all the power you need for DE. If you want to run TT and limit the amount of seat time/laps you get then e85 is probably not that bad. But you can be very fast in TT and still stay in 93. Foren and Honda-grl are proof. Keep in mind though, your fuel consumtion is going to go WAY up compared to what it is now as you get more comfortable with the car and move to a faster run group where you aren't held up in traffic.
