PCD: 2013-2014 Till We Break It Edition
^Tube frame/space frames doesn't rely on the body panels for structural support. Think topfuel dragsters or even the Ariel Atom. I think there are even sme differences between tube and space frames also. That's all I know.
Haha, sounds like the debate I had with Nelson on here when NEMO took the 2012 WTA title and record by over 5 secs. The dang car is a tube chassis 4G63 powered car, that's it.
There are some changes to the rules for 2013. For the PRO class specifically:
"What we have done is put some rules in to stop the cars “growing any weirder, wider or larger”. We have also put some rules aimed at getting back to the original spirit of time attack racing. These rules will prevent the use of things like space frames get the cars back to looking like “true cars”. We have also put a minimum weight in for all vehicles."
WHY YOU GOTTA GET ME ALL FIRED UP NOW?

I guess it's partly a technical question mixed in with a subjective question.
When folks are doing NASA events how nuts are the SU cars? Are they doing GTA this year at NJMP?
I don't know for sure, but based on some comments I've read from Andrew Brilliant (aero engineer for NEMO), I'm willing to bet some teams complained, and other shops shared the same opinion. I guess that really is racing though, to define the rulebook and find the loopholes. That's even visible in F1, but the cars don't go breaking records by that much time...do they?
GTA haven't released schedule for non-PROs yet.
