Trading Evo for Vette - am I crazy?
Trading Evo for Vette - am I crazy?
Ok, I need some forum therapy - I love my evo, but there's just something about the newer vettes that keeps calling my name. I love the look, the sports car feel in the seat, the rear wheel drive and the sound of a big v-8.
I went with the evo for the 4wh drive in the winter here, but i'm realizing i think even in the rain a rear wheel drive would be more fun... it's like the evo is just too easy to drive.
So, any thoughts? Anyone have Vette experiences they'd like to share...not the "I blew one away in a straight line, cuz i don't really care about super modded evos beating vettes" But thoughts on handling, reliability other things?
Oh, and I guess until someone talks me out of it, I have an 06 MR silver for sale with light mods, new tires, security system, no issues and 22k miles for just under $30k

Go drive a C6 first, then ask everyone their thoughts to see if they can expand on your observations. I have a close friend who went through the same situation last month and we finally went down to drive one. He left unimpressed and it made it an easier decision.
keep the Evo. much more fun to drive. Vette is overrated in my opinion from riding in several. and the fit n finish is typical GM... looks like someone at playskool made the dash and knobs. IF it were me and i wasnt in love with the evo id look for a used BMW M3.... or a new one if i had the cash, which i dont.
I bought a 2008 LS3 vette and love it man. I do however still have my evo. It all depends what you want really. They are two completely different animals. Im 35 now so for me I enjoy the vette a little more cause its a little more refined and especially now thats its procharged as well lol and not to mention 30 mpg to
. Best of luck to you my friend.

i know plenty of people with vettes i will never say a bad thing about them, there amazing machines, my dad told me i think when i was like 5 "there the only racecar you can drive off a showroom floor" this was before the evo mind you but still it holds true, there fun as hell to drive, easy to get sideways if u wanna impress some people i will have to agree that the interior is lack luster but the newest 1 ive been in was an 07 and they are definatly upping there game in that respect, it all depends what you like, i love my evo, love it, i will probly keep it till im old and grey, would i like a vette sure but ive done the RWD thing and i didnt like it, it was fun as hell but i realized that it wasnt for me, go test drive one see if it fits you more then the evo does, then make up your mind
Vettes can not be ignored ever since they've been redone in 02 or whatever. 1/4 mile times, lateral acceleration, braking, everything is on par with any supercar that's available for a fraction of the price. I agree, the interiors are cheap, but hey, the carbon fiber trim in an Evo is fake too. IMO, Japanese/American car interiors are very cheap compared to German cars. If you're looking for a plush interior, look for BMW or Mercedes. If you're looking for a AWD Turbo car buy an Evo. If you want a RWD Supercar, definately the z06 is right there with anything double it's pricetag.
I just prefer AWD.

If you're going to get a Vette, make sure you start putting some Rogaine on your chest and don't forget to get a gold chain from the swap meet. Ok, I'm kidding. Kinda.
Never been a Vette guy, but I respect them. The only new domestic that intrigues me is the new '09 CTS-V. In fact, I think I'm getting one

Almost got a '06 C6 with 3k-ish miles on it when I was looking around... Then I decided days like today with 6" of snow on the ground can happen a bit much, so I went with a "refined" AWD over the Evo. If it weren't for the snow here I'd be in a red C6 right now... But... because of the few days like today... I'd be dead
I do love the evo - it's a sick evil beotchd of a car, but it's just a little too easy to drive. I want something that scares me more, I want to drift around corners...with just the rear wheels...four wheel drifts are fun, but there's something I love about hanging the *** end out.
Unfortunately, I'm not prepared to make the financial sacrifices required to buy a new vette, so I'm looking at something a couple years older - probably 05 zo6 or 05/06 base model.
Test driving is probably the best bet...hope the dealers are open today.
Thanks for the input!
Growing up in New York, I think my brain has been poisoned by who I've seen driving Vettes...but those are my own painful memories from youth. You should really read up on the 2009 CTS-V if you haven't already
