So are you saying the USDM 6 speeds are not the same as the JDM/EDM 6 speeds? Have any proof? That just doesn't make sense, from a manufacturing standpoint. AFAIK, Aisin made the 6 speeds and no one else.

And, they're not strong (compared to the 5 speed)...regardless of what you think. Ask Jon from TRE.

I'll look for it tommorow/later this week. Its actually here on this site in the drivetrain forum if you search around for it.

There are a lot of components that are not shared between the US and the rest of the world so it doesn't suprise me. Look at the differences between the USDM MR and MR elsewhere. Ditto the RS and the GSR.

Furthermore the question was not a comparision to the 5 speed box but the comparision of the non USDM 6 speed box to the USDM 6 speed box.

I had some fun years ago in a very used and abused late 80's vette that was supercharged. It could power slide so easily and controllably. It was a lot of fun, but I still crave the Evo.

Those are trim differences, nothing more. I have been following most threads on the 6 speed (since I have one) and I don't ever remember seeing something like this.

Either way, the FQ-320 vs a USDM Evo isn't as much of a difference as this thread's making it sound. 34 bhp +/- (ASSUMING that USDM Evo's 286bhp claim is accurate in the first place) and AYC for the most part. Get rid of your bumpers and safety glass and there's your weight difference, and 2 air bags? that part I'm not really sure about, it wouldn't suprize me if they had air bags in Europe now... And probably side impact beams. Add all those parts together and at best you're looking at 150 lbs of additional weight in the USDM models... For the most part, if you're going to cry over 150 lbs, put the cheese burger down. The chassis are definately not stamped out of different gauge materials. The Evo's in the videos, and that was just above the Corvette are FACTORY PRODUCED MODELS, AND ARE CONSIDERED PRODUCTION CARS TO THE REST OF THE ENTIRE WORLD EXCEPT MAYBE 2 PEOPLE THAT HAVE READ THIS THREAD. end of story.

Well, I never got to take a test drive, because I wanted to make sure they'd give me a decent price on my trade - they wouldn't, and, to there credit, they told me that before I drove 3 hours to see the vette.

They wanted to give me like $25k, which is way below kelly trade.

And it's wasn't a used c6, whoever posted that, it was a brand new 08 C6, which is pretty decent deal.

The local chevy dealer also only wanted to give me $25.5k for it, so lowballer dealers are putting a damper on my willingness to take any action right now. I think the car is worth at least $28 private retail, and Kelly blue book says $29.6k. Kelly says dealer trade value is $27.7, and I was hoping for 27. Not getting it though.

So, the car's for sale on craigslist...unfortunately I can't post here because of their posting policy, which I must say I find a bit unfair.
