I don't know where some people get the idea that corvettes can't handle well.... They are relatively light, weight distribution is awesome, low center of gravity, and the suspension is awesome. If you wan't proof that they can handle check track times on them. You will see that the C6 Z06 is one the best handling cars ever mass produced. It is definitely the "poor man's" supercar.

"Almost as quick as the evo" - I'm fairly certain that was a highly modded evo with 400hp and lots of weight removed...it was the one that beat the lambrogini, so that's not really a fair comparison.

For those vette lovers on here, thanks a bunch, I had to go see if the C6 was that much better, and from sitting in it, no test drive yet, it is...totally better...didn't feel like a boat, interior nicer, shifter was much nicer...now I'm back to thinking a C6 might be my next car.

Have a test drive set for Sunday.

To each their own. Just like, muscle vs. import. All that matters is if YOU are going to like what YOU decide to drive. I've never owned a vette but I know some guys that do, and they love them. Plus I've certainly never heard them whine about all the stuff "Mr. it'll up root trees" was whining about in that link. But that doesn't mean anything. I agree with the test drive to help decide. If you keep the Evo and still want a FR car, I think a Datsun 510 would be a fun build. Good luck.

The current Z06 is AMAZING, regardless of what everyone has said. I have owned two a 2002, and my current one 2006 Z06. If you havent driven one longer than a week you should get on here and flame the hell out of the car. It is truly a great vehicle. The 08's are out and are even better. However nothing is perfect and the car with its 325 wide rear tires, traction is tough to control. Which is expected.

But the feeling of going 0-62+ MPH in first gear is just great.

The biggest difference in my opinion is fun factor of the Evo vs the Vette. There are limits to where and how that power can be used in daily scenarios, I mean you shift to third and your over 100 MPH. In florida go to jail if caught over 100MPH. So little things like that make it hard to justify.

Right now I am selling my Z06, as I am waiting for the Nissan GTR late this year, visit www.acewolf.com/z06/ for details.

and if you do go get a vette and need some parts www.corvettepartz.com is a great site.

The Evo shown on the board just above the corvette was an Evo VIII FQ-320. It's basically the USDM spec Evo with a little more aggressive of a tune. The one in the video that beat the Lamborghini was a FQ-400 which is a factory produced 400 bhp car. It was not a tricked out 1 off modded race car.

Well, I found a new 08 vette for $40k in Wash., which is $2k below invoice, and it seems like a great deal. Sorry zo6ers, I can't swing the extra $30k for the hottness.

I'll go test it out, but after sitting in the one today, I'm pretty sure i'm going to like it and buy it.

I haven't seen anything else new or used close to that year and price, so I'm thinking this is a pretty good deal. Chevy dealership in SE said they couldn't come close to matching it.

Corvette guys, any thoughts on that price and finding others that low locally in Portland?

So, before I get screwed on trade, thought I'd throw the evo up for sale on here and see if anybody's interested in it for a damn good price. check the post for details and thanks again for all the input.

I'll let you all know how the test drive goes.

Try Suburban Chev in Sandy. Sometimes they make good deals.
Also if you could deal with going out of town. I'd go to Kerbeks in Jersey.

Your also forgetting that the UK Evo VIII is a heck of a lot lighter than the USDM, has a good 6 speed box, slightly different suspension, has AYC (which will make a hell of a difference at the track) and at least 30-40 more horses than a stock Evo VIII.

The stock Evo VIII in the US maps closer to the FQ260.

So even with the same driver a USDM Evo VIII would have been slower than the vetter around the track. Stock for stock is the only comparison that matters.

Even so I don't count the FQ series or Crazy4Cars (Panama), Works TR-xxx, BR series Evos as "stock" cars anymore.

I went with the evo for the 4wh drive in the winter here, but i'm realizing i think even in the rain a rear wheel drive would be more fun... it's like the evo is just too easy to drive.

So, any thoughts? Anyone have Vette experiences they'd like to share...not the "I blew one away in a straight line, cuz i don't really care about super modded evos beating vettes" But thoughts on handling, reliability other things?

Oh, and I guess until someone talks me out of it, I have an 06 MR silver for sale with light mods, new tires, security system, no issues and 22k miles for just under $30k
I dont think you're crazy. Dont get me wrong. I love my evo. But, if I had the chance to get my hands on a 2008 Z06 I would do it right away.
