I did it when I changed my o2 sensors and it cleared my cel. Didn't feel like having a dealership charge me to turn it off.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm talking about the SRS light...not the SES light...

Right, safety restraint system. I was right there with you. The great thing about all warning lights is that the basic mechanism behind them is seldom different. Some are more involved than others, but all basically the same. There's a circuit that's either in a constant closed or constant open state. The warning light is triggered when something happens that causes the circuit to either open or close and the change from the acceptable state triggers the warning.
Sometimes taking power away form a circuit that's been tripped, resetting the circuit to the original default, depleting any residual charge, then restoring power may allow the warning to clear.
I'm not promising it'll work. It's possible the C-moss system in your ecu will retain srs codes upon restart. I just suggested trying it. Nothing to lose, right?

i have the same issue with my car and was quoted from 200+ dollars it can be reset at most body shops and stealerships. i read on another forum that this can be cause simply by the fact if u removed the positive cable from the battery 1st.
i saw this in another forum and they stated that there really isnt something wrong with your srs system.
