Exclamation Help: Anybody have the two special tools needed for strut top hat removal?

Hey guys (and gals),

I am trying to change the springs on my struts and just discovered that I need a couple special tools..

Does anybody have these who would be willing to let me borrow them? Does anybody know where I can buy these?

The part numbers are
MB991682
and
MB991681

thanks!

Cresent wrench, and ratchet end combination wrench work perfect.

If you leave the strut in the car, you can access the top nut and break it loose before you remove the top 3 nuts and the two bolts that hold the strut in place. Don't loosen it to much, just break it loose, use a spring compressor and then take it all the way off.

If you already have it off the car, you can also try a strap wrench around the shaft to hold it steady while you loosen that top nut.

I don't remember exactly how I removed mine but I know they were out of the car and the only special tools I had were the spring compressors. Pretty sure we just used a crescent wrench

that is a great idea Minh! Can't believe that I didn't think of that.
Andrew (Forsaken) told me that I can go to sears and get some open-ended sockets which should make it super easy.

Every once in a while you get some decent ideas off of internet forums.

I bought the set of open ended sockets from sears and got it done. When I was undoing the tophats, the piston of the strut was not turning. So, it looks like I didn't really need the open ended sockets after all. Oh well. It's finally done. Thanks everyone.
