Really? Well, that's good to catch that problem BEFORE an accident occurs. Hope you get that grounding issue fixed asap.

The mechanic told me as long as the airbag light on the DASH comes on during the systems check when you first turn your key to ON, then the airbags will deploy. In my case, it has to do with something about the passenger light on the center console, like the bulb got shorted or something which is why the airbag light is on.

I asked them to program my doors to lock when shift to drive if possible and the mechanic checked, but there's no option in our vehicles for that feature.

I don't believe that's accurate. I KNOW it is a changeable option in the ETACS ECU for the 2011 models, and I highly doubt would change it because other countries require it. It would be silly to manufacture two ECU's, one for the US, and one for the Global ASX/RVR.
