Wipers- disable rain sensor and have intermittent only?

The auto rain sensing wiper function basically sucks. Is there a way to disable the auto rain sensing function to basically turn the sensitivity adjustment selector into a manual intermittent selector?

Yes, it is possible but it requires to program your ETACS. Search for keywords as "ETACS Decoder" or "Diagbox" .

So it's a programming change and not as simple as unplugging the rain sensor?

I do not have this option in my car but isn't it even a simpler solution to turn the switch to "off" position? Whenever you need it you may turn it back on and select the appropriate speed. Simply do not use the "auto" setting.
I am not sure but I suspect if you unplug the rain sensor you might get an error message on the center display. Try it and see.

It is on the OFF position most of the time. The problem I'm having is when I need something in between OFF and LO- a true intermittent. When it's in Auto mode and the rain varies in intensity- sometimes the wiper will slowly increase in frequency and speed until it's running nonstop, even when the rain has let up to nearly nothing.

sounds like something is screwed up - see if you can recreate that behavior with a hose, then take it to the dealer and try to demonstrate to them.

Rain-sensing works pretty good in my wife's OS - kinda wish i had it in my car.

you do know you can change the "auto" speed/sensitivity with the switch right, by acutall turning it up/down

Yes, I am fully aware of how it works.
