if you check Edmunds and KBB most of the MR's are now going for about 21-22k with checking a good condition on both...with about 45-50k miles on them...To me mods don't add value to the car..if anything mods can depreciate the car's value...i have been looking for an evo to buy for the past year and have researched on pricing using this forum/edmunds TMV/KBB/Nada and all across the board MR's for private sale are about 21k-mid range 23k range....hope that helps you with pricing

So if that is the picture, I'd get that properly checked out before I agreed to take that off his hands if I were you.

If the seller doesn't like the price being offered then of course it is up to them to negotiate or part-out aftermarket items to take the car back closer to stock. In Chris' case, $21k is a killer deal!
In some cases you're right but the more realistic approach is the seller shouldn't expect full value for mods. In Chris' case, he has a nice clutch and really nice transmission. He likely won't get what he paid for them but they are worth a price bump, especially if he can provide warranty on installs, etc.

It really depends on the mods, and they definitely don't add full price but I wouldn't give away free money either, unless I was really motivated to sell. If I have an aftermarket wing that cost a grand I'd rather part it off and sell it on the side. The obvious issue I may run into is whether or not I have the stocker to put back on. That's where I would start to lose money on the sale but I could probably still come out on top overall.
I think it isn't so much sentimental reasoning for leaving mods installed as it is laziness or not having the time. That's what I've usually seen anyway. I think I see what you mean by sentimental reasoning. A motivated seller is someone that is willing to dip below what the item is worth in order to make a quick sale.
When we sold our old house in 2007 we got the market value and then undercut it by nearly $10k. We kept getting compliments about the best house on the market at that price but no offers. Dropped it another $5k after 3 weeks of hearing the same thing and instantly had 3 buyers. Our old neighbors were pretty pissed but the fact of the matter is we got rid of our house in a month while it took them almost a year.

Told him to check out the NW section and say hi........ havent seen him on here yet.
^I knew I saw him, and even mentioned it to someone when we stopped. I just figured I must have seen Minh's car. I guess that explains why I didn't see you right away Ryan. I forgot to ask that night, though.
