My personal way of responding to apartment managers who are too stupid to keep proof of insurance and threaten to evict me:
February 8, 2011
**Edit address** Dear Manager,
Thank you for the threat of eviction, nothing puts the fire under the tenant like it!
Sadly however, I must point out that I’ve sent you this information three times over the past 6 months via fax and have hand delivered it to your office as well.
So while I do very much appreciate the officious and detail oriented methods you use to dot the “I” and cross the “T”, maybe a friendly call or you know trying to hold onto the information tenants provided you multiple times would also suffice?
While we’re on the topic of absolute accuracy, please replace the faulty lights in the walkway outside of my unit.
Sincerely,
Ryan.Kauz
PS: While some humor was used in this letter, it really wasn’t necessary to threaten to evict a tenant over information that was acquired at the time of lease signing (July 2009) and again at renewal (July 2010). Please look into your internal controls as your office confirmed that you do not have ANY proof of insurance documents in my file after nearly 2 years of residency.
