Is that normal the # of my AFR on Midd throttle ???

Many thx man ...

It depends on the load on the car. At cruise that's fine. Once you start spooling the turbo it should be around 12.5 -12.0 as you move from 0 psi to 5 psi, past 5 psi it should quickly taper down to mid 11's and stay there to redline.

Finished the brake intake on the passenger side. There's not enough space for a velocity stack, so I just made a block off plate with an inlet.

Then I added endplates to the splitter. This should help hold the aero load out into the edge of the spliter = more downward force. First was cutting and bending.

Then bonding and clamping, after a coat of paint.

And a mock-up test fit.

I like the extensions. They look slightly dangerous!

Also the diaper storage location was a nice touch. With this economy buying in bulk must save you$$$

I think I got that box for free from Walmart as a packing box when we moved! The brake is down in my storage area in the crawl space

Here's a datalog plot of boost and load vs. rpm for a 3rd gear street pull. Overall impression of the turbo spooling its pretty similar to my stock 2.0L block and stock VIII turbo. There's no real feeling of more lag over a stock based turbo setup. But once the turbo gets going watchout. 1st gear is gnarly, you better be paying attention because it comes on hard, and is at the rev limit in no time.

Making nearly full boost by 3900 RPM. The load curve should be very similar to a dyno torque plot. Still no tuning yet, this is off my baseline map I made at startup.

This beautiful homemade unit I put together 5 years ago for $15. See picture below. I've got my ROM all ready and patched with direct boost control, but I haven't bought the GM 3 port yet. I finally switched over to the '0015 ROM as well. I'll maybe do that when I move to E85. The manual boost control works pretty good though.

i just went from a hallman mbc to the gm 3 port + direct boost control. well worth it

have you done compression or leakdown now that the motor is broken just to check?

No, I don't have a compression gauge - I need one. What should my values be? I blew my dipstick out at 15 psi. I had to zip tie it in place. So I'd like to see what's going on with leak down etc. Hopefully the rings seated well

What exactly was better with going to the 3 port and direct control? Is your car running now, with the upgrades?

my compression values are ~185 psi across the board and leakdown is <5%. You should check your pcv valve and make sure that its not leaking under boost, that happened to me and i blew out my dipstick.

my car is has been running for the past couple weeks but i can only take it out every once in awhile because it keeps snowing here the 3 port eliminated the taper that i had when using a mbc. i mostly did it for map switching though. next is speed density
