What about a different oil pan? I've heard mixed results from accusump use. Def good for pre-oiling tho.

sorry I just realized this is OT and jacking.

Using Accusump better than no Accusump. The AMS oil pan is nice, need to save my pennies.

So I didn't get the Accusump fully installed, ran out of time. I had the hose routed under the car but couldn't get the plug out of the oil filter housing. It was 11:30 and I decided it wasn't worth me screwing something up in the middle of the night. Didn't load the car yet either - still tuning. Down to the wire to get finished.

I just spent the last 2 hours reading all of these posts!
Nice, reminds me of when I built my eclipse motor. I pulled it out again last weekend for some more work. I see myself doing this same thing before too long with my evo.

Crazy to think how close you are too!
Hit me up when your painting mroe rooms in your house...I sell paint in Kirkland!

Looking good, fill us in on how the track day went with pics. Which school/event was it?

We loaded up the EVO, and my Dad and I drove down to Portland Friday afternoon in gorgeous blue skies.

Wake up, head to the track and unload to rain, cold, and wind. Oh, well. Needless to say the BFG R1's were used as tent tie-downs, and the splitter stayed in the truck because I didn't want to lay on the wet ground and install it. Not to mention it wasn't going to help my all-season tires a whole bunch.

So this being my first time to PIR, it being wet and slick, and running all season tires and just took it easy and learned the line and did some shake-down stuff on the car. I opened the hood after the second session to find a surprise - a hole in the top of my catch can. At first I thought I blew a hole through the top of it from high crank-case pressure. This freaked me out and the next 2 session I drove out of boost. After looking at it some more I realized the filter is made from chrome plated plastic and it had melted from pressurized hot air. Still not great but better than breaking metal from excessive pressure. Regardless, I'm going to be installing a 1/2" diameter AN hose on the valve cover and building a new catch can with large diameter breathers.

So far during tuning I've been making WOT pulls. On track in the rain I was using part throttle and realized the car is prone to surging. The turbo builds boost at just a crack of throttle under load in track conditions and tries to push it through a nearly closed throttle plate. So the car would buck and surge. It likes the throttle open! In the dry I think the issue won't be too bad. I was also trying to nurse the car around during a few sessions after seeing the hole in my catch can.

When I got home I was checking out the engine bay and found that my dump tube lost both bolts and was merely hanging loose in the engine bay.

Talking to the guys next door. Mmmm race gas, they were lighting up the front straight. This car sounded good.

Overall the car felt good, when you step on the throttle it picks up and literally flies. I'm excited to fix the catch can issue, and go back in the dry and let it rip on the front straight. I was going through 3rd and 4th and coasting 5th most of the time to take it easy. This guy in the CTS-V did not take it easy on the front straight - he turned into a pinball with the walls.

When I got home I found these... E85 is going to make the car Gnar-Gnar fast.

Just got done installing the FIC BlueMax 1450's. They fit better than the precision injectors as the body length is sized more like the stock units. The car started right up and idled perfect. I'll be checking the fuel trims tomorrow. So far these seems to be sweet. 1450's that run and idle on normal gas.

I just ordered fittings, bungs, hose and a filter to build a higher flow breather system and catch can. I'll run 1/2" hose from the valve cover, maybe two in parallel into a larger square catch can with a large diameter filter. The inlet will be the same size as a BOV tube - 1.25".

I also got more stuff for the double pumper. So far I have both pumps with install kits and harnesses, an external filter, high-pressure hose and clamps, and the pressure sensor. I still need the bulk head fittings, Y, and bulkhead harness. I can't decide if I'm going to run the second pump off the hobbs switch or modify the return T and run both all the time...
