Everyone keeps telling me to stick with a stock-frame turbo like a black. I guess i could deal with the wait time due to the breaking in of the engine and what not but 2500 is a lot for a turbo when i could get a 6262 for 800 brand new.

I'm just going to be running pump for now, i don't know of any places to get e85 around jacksonville. except the government e85 pump station on base, but im not trying to go to jail. lol I figured the 1150's would be a good choice for my set up and 93 with occasional race fuel mixes at the track.
Yeah its cool man I just know plenty of bad stories with ACT thats all. I mean a deal is a deal no matter how you look at it . The 6262 is a sweet turbo no doubt and thats a pretty good price. But I myself didn't go with a black I went with an ef4 and I am very happy with it. Me personally I like to blow the doors off people and when they want to look at the engine bay they don't see a huge turbo they just see the smaller turbo and its funny to look at the confused look. I have 1150s with my talon on a 3076r and yeah they should be plenty for your setup. Definately go sprung no matter what choice you go with. I hate the chatter in the Quartermaster that is in the talon and I used it for dd duties for a while.

yeah I understand the concept behind sleeper trust me. my firebird is prime example lol but I'd much rather run a t3 setup for about the same price that way I have more room for variety should I go different routes with the car or just to mix things up.

well it has taken about a month and a half but the rotating assembly has FINALLY made it to my doorstep.

next step is to have everything balanced and hopefully have the block at the machine shop sometime soon.

btw sorry for the supersize pictures, i resized them on photobucket but they seem to stay the same size

Okay so i'm hoping someone can help me out a little bit here or just give some opinions if i'm on the right track or not.

This is what i'm looking at for the next major parts order...
-CC s4 6-puck sprung clutch
-Gates timing belt
-AMS balance shaft elim
-BR shifter bushings
-OEM gasket kit (still debating this)
-Gates water pump

any input would be greatly appreciated. Right now i'm getting ready to have the block sent out to the machine shop, so I want to have everything ready for the assembly when I get it back.

I think that order list is sufficent. I wouldn't even think of debateing oem anything. Its oem for a reason and usually the best route. Everything else you have my 2 thumbs up for.

thanks, i just wasnt sure if the oem head gasket would be good or not, i know a lot of people use cometic.

also, I saw somewhere on here where the gates timing belt is so tight it messes up pulleys? or is that only if you're stupid and don't set the tensioner right.

with all of this i should be able to have everything together when the block comes back

Blah to the Cometic. I know people have their opinions about certain things and I am one of them. I myself use only oem mls head gaskets. I have been told over the years oh you cant run mls gasket with o ringed heads yadda yadda and I've done it for years. As long as you use the correct stuff it wont leak end of story.

The Gates timing belts are the only belts I will use on any of my cars. People who don't know wtf there doing with timing stuff will over tighten them and its expected being we have all done it over the years and we all have to learn somewhere but yeah top notch belts and always a good idea. As long as you have some common since, and some sort of ability and can read a shop manual, you should have no issues installing a Gates belt on any mitsu.

so I have a question about the balance shafts. is it worth it to go with the Ams kit or should I just leave the stock boys in.
I'm kind of on a budget so if I can save some money there I will but I definitely don't want to skip out on anything on this build so any input would be appreciated. thanks!

i dont see why people feel the need to go gates timing belt. You know who makes mitsubishi OEM belts?? ....gates... lol

also the balance shaft, i've again never seen the need for them. unless you're doing a mega horsepower build.

sub'd for updates!

yeah that's what I thought but the gates just looks and sounds stronger than the oem

as for the balance shaft I figured it'd be okay to just leave it there, I don't see the huge benefit of the Ams one and it's not gonna be a killer. maybe one day but for now just a quick and fun little street car.

thanks!

So the head is back from the machine shop with the cams installed, it came out really nice.

Made a huge order from Justin at STM, they hooked me up with a fluidampr hb, cc stage 4 6 puck, a/c delete belt, gates water pump, shifter bushings, tb seals, and a gasket kit.

The blocks in the machine shop now with the rotating assembly being sent out once the hb gets in. The valve cover and cam gears also got sent out for some powder

Reason being is oem belts over time will stretch being there made mostly of the rubber compound where the aftermarket Gates is 90% kevlar wrapped with a rubber coating that is why.
