I have the stock IX turbo and right now is a good time for me to upgrade and get the EVO taken care of.

Based on the power I made from the EF4 (513whp and 470wtq), I know that breaking 500whp will keep a smile on my face for a long time. As for the torque, I am pleased with that as well but I need something that spools faster to get the power band pushed to the left more for how I use the EVO.

This is why I have opted for these two turbos as they each flow in the 49 to 55 lbs/min range which will be able to achieve at least 475whp and nearly the same 470wtq as I had with the EF4 but sooner.

When I had the EF4, I achieved those numbers on a single Walbro 255lph at just 32PSI. The turbo is a BEAST for those that are intending to drag race. I have to keep my power goals realistically around how I now use the car.
Oh, I completely agree with you on all accounts. We have the same thought process. I guess my comment was in regards to the fact that I still lie skeptical about the EF series turbos, as they seem to spool extremely slow compared to the amount of power that they produce up top.

Either way, good luck!

It is one of those trade-offs, my friend. You and I (along with others) know that you always have to give up one (spool) in pursuit of the other (top end) and vice versa. There is no magical formula.

Can someone please tell me what the issue is with getting the Perrin intake? Is it a great modification? I presently have an AEM filter set up on speed density.

I was wondering the same thing... Saw these, I think I might try the filter, when this cone filter gets dirty.

If the Perrin is that good, count me in. If not, then I am just going to put the largest filter I can find in there once I remove the windshield wiper reservoir.

I have made the decision to go with the FP Red for Megatron. Stay tuned for the tuning results. It should be pretty good as I will have a double pumper to see what the turbo can really do with a 2.4LR engine.

We have monitored each other's thread for quite awhile now, my friend. I have no problems with people giving their opinions about EVO "stuff" as that is how we all learn. What bothers me is when guys believe they have somehow solved the mystery to make power. I tried the EF4 and did not like its power band. Plain and simple.

I got a new toy in the mail today - FP Red. I am very excited to see what it does with the 2.4LR on E85.

It should be fun once Tom gets his "virtual" hands on Megatron again.

I have a feeling that you are going to be over the 500whp goal with the new setup but I guess we will wait see!

I have no doubts about achieving 500whp+ with a pretty broad powerband.
