That Kandy Apple Red EVO gets built
I dont know where to start, so ill just start with the basic car info.. its a 2003 GSR EVO 8 thats painted Kandy Apple Red and yes its "stanced." previous to blowing the motor it was making 380hp, stock block, 272 HKS cams, HKS DLI ignition, megan o2 housing, 3" downpipe with a 3" straight pipe all the way back (no resonators, or cats), Speed Density on stock ECU. Enough talking, lets get to the cool stuff, PICS!
heres a few pics of the car.
last month i was getting on the highway, traffic was slow so i was doing about 40mph at about 2500 rpm when i heard a quick loud whine followed my a loud bang. i instantly knew my motor blew. i made 5 holes in the block, one of which had so much force that it blew out the rear passenger side corner of the block bending my oil pan an breaking my axle. Piston #1 and Rod #1 completely disintegrated into a million pieces, an put a nice gash down the cylinder wall.
notice anything missing in this pic?
so i did what any fellow EVO owner should do, i began wrenching.
the axles shot grease all over my firewall, and the motor spit oil like mad, so i used 2 bottles of degreaser and a powerwasher to solve that problem.
i decided to go with an EVO 9 MIVEC motor, and build her so that she can handle a few horsies.
- JE pistons 0.10 over 9.5-1 compression
- Manley Turbo Tuff rods
- ACL main and rod bearings
- ARP rod bolts
- ARP main studs
- ARP head studs
- AMS balance shaft eliminator kit
- Cosmetic Head Gasket
- Supertech valves, springs, and retainers
- Cosworth M3 cams
AND DRUM ROLL PLEASEEEE!
easily one of my favorite parts; AMS MOROSO wet sump oil pan.
other mods include:
- EXEDY triple disk sprung HD clutch
- Buschur double pumpers
- Precision 1000cc injectors
- Aeromotive fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator
- Tial Q bov 50mm and Tial 44mm wastegate
- AMS fmic
- Speed Density
- and a bunch of other things im forgetting
My goal is to break 600hp on pump gas, then bring it back down to 500ish so i can daily the car, as for the turbo I'll be going with a Precision 6262.
ill be updating pics and info as i go.
