New WW IX MR
Thoughts
Well,
due to a perfect ****storm of timing, my evo was street parked during a flash flood (instead of high up on my driveway) and it was just high enough to get the carpet on the passenger side wet. driver's side is dry. I soaked up most of the water from under the carpet, but the carpet is still wet. Car is running fine etc.
Buddy's bringing a shop vac tomorrow so we can get the rest of the water out, and then i'll probably take it to a place to get the interior cleaned. Any suggestions/things I need to check? The water was juuuust high enough that water started seeping inside to the pass side.
Ironically, the Mini is totally dry
::
just to clarify, the water didnt get above the bottom of the doors - whatever got wet got wet from the bottom up.

judging from this thread (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...duction-s.html)
i should have no issues. it just barely started getting the floor/carpet wet on the passenger side, which looks like there's practically nothing there. with the carpet out, i'll wet vac everything to get everything out, and then either buy new/used carpets or salvage the one i had. not feeling as in despair as when it originally happened - was worried the car would be totaled, electrical ruined, etc. looks like there's nothing there and it didnt ever breach the carpet, was just under it causing the carpet to be wet

pulled the carpets today, they're pretty much done. one wire got somewhat damp, must have just gotten wet from the carpet itself getting wet - anyone know what this is? right in front of the passenger side back seat:

it was wet, but definitely not the worst thing in the world. should be good as new with a new carpet:

also, im gonna put my seats back and drive without the carpet - but the rails were on top of the carpets i believe - should i put some plastic washers down between the metal and the seat rail?
Not shown very well from the pics, but it definitely did get lowered on top of a jack or something at some point in it's life - and pretty hard at that. Not a terribly big deal, but surprising to see. Will treat the bottom of it.
Is there a rubber plug I can use to fill the hole that the o2 sensor goes through?

well evo is up and running, everything put back together. i'm noticing the fuel pump (dw300) whine a bit more than usual - not sure if that's due to something with anything getting wet - no wires etc did, so not sure why. maybe it's just a little more pronounced without the carpet and padding muffing everything.
corner balanced the car, and my weight, sans carpet & spare tire but with full tank comes to just about 3,220lbs. not too shabby. the other thread had the carpet going for about 20 lbs, so 3240 or so with a carpet, and right around 3200 at half a tank which is nromally what i race on

Seems the evo is suddenly consuming a good amount of oil - never done that before. Not sure what the deal is here
::edit::
not as much "consumed" as originally thought (i'm hoping). i don't remember what kind of incline (don't have perfectly flat) surface i filled the oil on. some was definitely lost somewhere, maybe not consumed but leaked. some at the dipstick tube it looks like, and the drain bolt was a little wet, definitely with oil.
::edit::
i'm thinking there is a lot of pressure being generated while racing which is causing some of these issues. time to get an oil catch can i suppose. anyway, that pressure may be causing the oil leak (dipstick tube wet, some oil around the drain plug). hopefully not actual consumption going on.

Binary Engineering Seat Brackets
Well I tried to install Binary Engineering seat brackets again - I had them before in this car, but I couldn't get used to the lower seating position. It turns out that I did get used to them, so I finally reinstalled them.
There was something different this time though - I have the Buschur removable harness bar, which includes installing a bracket on the seatbelt bolt. The bolt protrudes out just enough to get stopped on the new Binary Engineering bracket, which means I can't move seat back at all. I can't move the seat forward either, because of the seat bracket bolt in the front (Binary Engineering brackets don't let you move the seat forward very much, slider hits the bolt)
I've asked Binary Engineering to see if they can fab a bracket that angles down lower so it can avoid the seat belt bolt, and may swap the front bolt with a shorter one so I can slide the seat forward more. Pics below.

unfortunately still no word from Binary Engineering regarding my fitment issue. Hopefully they get back to me soon, I've held off on installing the passenger's side for now
well I never heard from the guy, but the new brackets are in. Like the driver's side, the passenger side has limited motion, but that shouldn't be an issue. Will post pics later. OEM seat brackets for sale.
Last autoxes of the year this weekend. Doing Sat in the Mini and Sun in the Evo, should be a good time!
