Batty200 Build thread. 6262 2.4L

So last year I got a blown motor plus cash in trade for my stock motor.

The engine I got was a 2.4L with gsc S2 and upgraded springs and retainers. It was otherwise a mystery. The compression in cylinder 3 was only 70psi. I didnt have time to rebuild right away so I slapped it in the car and ran it.

Here is that thread.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...vo9-turbo.html

I found out a little later it had a 20G on it and then upgraded to a JMF O2 dump. I gained nothing and drove the car for a while. After a LOT of beating the week before the shootout last summer it started making some noises and I decided not to risk it and parked it until I had time to tear it down and fix it.

I recently pulled the motor and tore it down. It was a mixed bag I was surprised about. It has the GSC S2 cams and upgraded springs and retainers. The head was stock and the intake manifold was also stock. When pulling the head I realized it has dogpoint tool steel head studs of some variety. The Pistons were Wiseco 1400HD 6626M87 -14cc pistons. I was super excited at this point. Then came the bummer. It had Eagle rods. Now eagle are way better than stock but not up to the task of 800whp which is the eventual goal. I sold those and got three Crower billet I beam rods from Fathouse. If anyone has an incomplete set of crower rods let me know as I still need one. Otherwise I will just buy one new one. One happy surprise was a baffled oil pan. That saved a couple hundred on on the rebuild. I need a new block and have sourced one I will pick up next Monday. If anyone has a spare

The pics show the damage to the head from the piston damage due apparent detonation from some aggressive tuning on poor quality gas. I got a pair of the same pistons from Turbo01S2K to make a complete set of pistons to hang onto the crower rods I got. Hopefully with my double pumper setup and 1200cc injectors and GT35R setup I can get over 600whp and then save for some 2150cc injectors and a 6466 and make some big boy power.

So here goes Nothing! Wish me luck BOYS!

Thanks guys. It should be pretty sweet when she is running again. To be honest with the previous turbo and power output it was a blast to drive. If the extra 200HP up top comes at too big an expense in drivability I may go to a smaller turbo again like the FP HTA Green or Red. A black is also a possibility but I think the spool is close enough to a 35R that the swap wouldn't give enough back to justify the cost.

A few updates:

I got my pistons checked and they were no good! So I am now changing a few things:

Ordering Wiseco HD2 pistons in stock 4g64 86.5mm bore. I am debating what compression to order tomorrow. I run e85 almost exclusively but am not sure about making the car almost unusable on pump gas.

I went ahead and bought a set of FIC 2150cc injectors.

I got a Kenne Belle Boost-A-Pump to test out and see if that plus a single modded wally255 will keep my fuel needs satisfied.

I upgraded to a 6262 dbb. My hafe kit uses a 4bolt turbine housing so I got a new turbine housing for the 6262.

I ordered a new rod and bushings for my three used rods from Crower. Big and small end weights were matched by crower.

My comp stg2 clutch was TOAST so I am using my QM 6Leg. I hate the decel noise and drivability but love the shifting and I dont want to have a clutch not hold up to the power.

I will update with more pics soon.

Is your car running with the HTA 86 on it? We will have to have a Hafe kit meet.

Not yet, unfortunately. About to do that whole graduation thing, and then my next stop is back home, at which point I can finish the car.

I completely agree! I flipped the HTA86 seeing as I was able to make a nice chunk of profit off of it, however, when I get home I'm hoping to either get another one or a 6262/6266 (BB). It basically depends on whatever pops up for the right price used when I get home.

I still have to send the HAFE kit to Curt Brown. Did you do any porting to yours?

No I didn't. I was going to see if the ports are bigger than the head ports but I have another issue. The previous owner welded the turbine housing to the Manifold. I didnt pay attention and it looked like just nice beads but the back was crazy. My buddy has a long porting bit so he is going to grind the weld off so I can change turbine housing. I didnt think it was going to be such a chore. I will make sure the exhaust ports are bigger than the head ports before I install it.

Just to be clear seller was forthcoming I just didn't pay attention and I was not planning to swap turbine housing so I didn't care too much.
