2026: What Did You Do To Your Evo Today?
well, head gasket blown so i guess theres no better time then now to do a 120 k service, head rebuild, and some power mods. head gasket failure was from my own ignorance/neglect
that i would rather not talk about cause i already beat myself up about it as well as my wallet haha, it is what it is and now to go forward. Rust is all through the passage ways of the cooling system so i have a lot of cleaning ahead of me. any rust cleaning methods would be greatly appreciated (soaking or spray scrubbing). after everything is clean and head is put back together with new parts ill be bumping the power near 500 hopefully.MODS- Evo is basically stock how it sits with tbe, cone intake, licp, twin disc clutch, evo 9 bov, and aluminum radiator.
Im rebuilding the head with new all gsc parts: s2 cams, valves, lifters, valve seals, seats, beehive springs and ti retainers with arp head studs.
New bolt on mods are bigger intercooler, ebc, radium fuel rail w/ pulse dampener, fic 1050 injectors, walbro 450 e85 pump, and an Arashi TD06hr-r2 turbo with kinugawa wga. plan on duel 91/e85 maps
I made the mistake of bringing my IX MR into the dealership for airbag recall. They flashed the ECU with the updated recall ROM after I explicitly told them not to. I walked into the service center and asked if it was ready to pick up, and the service writer said "they're just starting the ECU recall update now."
Me: "DON'T DO THAT, I SAID IT WAS TUNED!!"
Service writer races back to the shop and comes back 5 minutes later saying they were able to abort the update before it finished and everything was fine.
Service writer asked me to sign paperwork acknowledging that both recalls were performed, and I told him I am not signing jack squat until I personally verify the ECU was not modified.
As soon as I got home, I pulled the ROM image from the ECU and sure enough, it was not the image it had when I took it into the shop this morning!
Stupid buttwipes!

The dealer gets paid by mitsu to perform the TSB which is why im sure they try and force them on everyone who comes in.
Looks good, its been so long since I installed mine. It ain't as fancy as they are now I guess i have the old school set-up when spoolinup didnt have carbon fiber and stickers on top of the coils. Just the basic Toyota coils with the stainless base.
