If you get the 5862, I would go for the T4 twinscroll hotside. Otherwise the gen2 5558 looks promising.

letsgetthisdone is right, I acquired this kit before the Gen 2 turbos where out.

If they where I probably would have gone with the 5558 Gen 2. If the Gen 2 5862 spools the same as my current 5858 I would get that but I have had a hard time finding much about the Gen 2's yet.

If I can't get my damn turbo to stop smoking I might go with a Gen 2 afterall...

Gen 2 only represents the new compressor wheel, the internals are the same. The turbo still smokes??

Yes, not as bad but still smokes. I'm going to try and change the drain line fitting at the turbo to something bigger. The fitting MAP provided is 12mm and Precision recommends 20mm minimum on the inside, although I think they are now providing the "ported" version that I have ready to go on.

It's going to be a pain in the *** to change and it if it doesn't stop the smoking then obviously the turbo needs to come off.

Current:

New fitting to put on:

From what I understand the gen 2 turbos have a broader power range. From what users and reps are saying a 5862 should spool like a 5858 and make more power. I haven't heard anyone dispute these claims although I'm skeptical myself. Coming from a EF4 I expect to see more pleasing results regardless.

Put the car on a real dyno today. This is a local Mustang dyno.

28.5psi flat across
14* max timing (8500rpm)
11.5-11.7 AFR

I'd turn it up more but I'm dropping fuel pressure 8,000 RPM +

That's a fair bit of power on that Magnaflow catback! Good to know

that's a pretty perfect graph. Must pull so hard towards redline, was this third gear?

Yup, that was third gear. I was going to do a fourth as well but I was tight on time so I just did four pulls and unstrapped the car and left.

It did 544 with 26.5 psi (my first pull off the street)

that's great power for the boost. You think the higher compression helped that much?
