Another stupid question, is this second resonator I'm about to purchase a bolt-on piece or will have to be welded on?

Go the same size. It'll make life a LOT easier for the installer. And your wallet.

There is no "better" in general. It depends on what you'd like out of it.

I vote 2.25", but since our discussions have lead me to believe that you're uber-worried about losing low-end power, you may want to go 2"...

i have a question. i have a custom 2.5" that some local shop did up with a tip which works awesome with my bodykit but soundwise isnt cutting it. in washington you cant have anything louder than stock so i get tickets all the time. i have been looking at the dc sports, the greddy, and the aem catback. any suggestions on which one has has the best sound and the flow?

You're probably going to need a resonator or probably 2 to deafen the sound. Also a high flow cat wouldn't hurt.

High flow cat is louder than the stock cat so sticking with the stock cat would be a good idea for him. But yeah getting a couple of resonators or like we saw in texas (glasspacks) will hepl quiet it down.

Wait a minute - are you saying there's no muffler? Just piping and a tip?

In that case, any of them will be quieter. Let's face it - exhausts are all essentially the same. (Yeah, I'll get hatemail for that, I'm sure) Pick any of them that you can locate/afford.

I wasn't aware that AEM made a catback for the lancer. I have the greddy and it sounds nice, but I gotta agree with Doug, sound wise they'll all be pretty similar.

its just a weld on muffler with custom 2.5" piping with a highflow cat. it came with the car. it wouldnt have been my first choice of exhaust i know that much. but im sure the header set up with that is giving the car such a loud sound and due to the fact that a $80 muffler thats made to catch your eye but not made for anyother use. so im guessing the greddy set up would be a goodchoice i just might need to tact on longer hangers due to the rear lip on my car.
