I could see a probationary period for new accounts where they could not start posts in the more technical areas of the forum. However, flaming the so called "morons" doesn't exactly add to the content of EvoM either. It is not like you are helping the board get any better instead you are starting a useless flame war.

but, for me at least, and i can't speak for everyone, i only tell them to search once. in no way do i intend to start a flaming war, but it gets annoying when at least a few times a week we have a thread about which intake is better, or what would a wing look like on my car. it just gets really old really fast, and the problem to me is that it seems lately the mods have been taking sides with the noobs. maybe i'm wrong though....

sorry i own a scooby now, and the site has been like this for awhile, i just decided i would speak up about it

speedlimit: if your saying that banning people is after repeated pm's then i think oyu need to recheck the staff, unless you consider 1 a repeating? doesnt make sense, thats all. the thread that was closed was in OT, and it wasnt a flame was, most of the people on there were just having fun, hell if they agreed then whatever, why is it so wrong to just post agreed and ok to do and countdown thread, which may i remind you is also in OT. last time i checked there were no rules in OT. Im also so sure that you guys are enforcing the stay on topic rule, ie: a turbo thread will come up and another vendor will promote an Sc company thats unrelated to the thread, why not enforce tha on them, after all thats how sh it starts to hit the fan

i already took some forums in here out of my list so that only ceratin ones pop up when i sign on, and it didnt use to happen before but again all i see now are reposts, which exhaust is better? turbo vs sc?, which intake should i get?, whats the first mod i should tohould i do? ive been on this site since oct of 2003, some people have been here longer and some havent, but when i first signed on, there were new questions, now theres nothing but the same questions being posts over and over again, and people think its cute to start a new thread cus they are too loazy to go search, but in the end mods side witht hem anyways? BS

I see no problem with what the mods have done. They are trying to keep the forums clean and free from the arguements and unneeded comments that should be kept to ones self. I, for one, think they are doing an excellent job.

Instead of telling new users to search, give them a link that shows how to search or help them by posting links to other posts that answer their questions.

what do you expect from all the new people showing up? not everyone is going to use the search. some new people dont even know how to use it.

the point is the useless posts that people have to threads that are not useless to the person posting it.

if you feel a useless thread has started , report it to a mod, and hopefully it will get locked. and then newb will figure it out. if not . pm the user. or link a thread to the search feature or even not post anything at all. many positive ways to handle the situation. instead of people doing the negative way , which only breeds more negative comments and brings evom down imo

i agree that newbies sometimes ask dumb questions. we all had to start off stupid and learn to walk so to say. i agree that maybe we can have an advanced turbo/drivetrain section. then newbies can ask the typical, what exhaust is best, or what will my mods do, in the regular section. i agree that u are not forced to answer these less informed people, but sometimes the ignorance is blinding!

if i wanted to be banned for say, a week, because i have a lot of work to get done, could a mod do that for me? it won't stay on my permanent record though, right?

point is, everyone knows how to search, otherwise, how would they have found this site? 98% of these people arent reffered to the site, they dont get a thought bubble, and think im gonna type in evolutionm.net on my personal computer and hopefully it will relate to my lancer oz, or lancer evolution. everyone knows how to use google or some kind of search engine right?, wow it works the same damn way....

if you close a thread, then another thread will start, saying why was my thread closed? mods can do it, but they would rather go into the thread read its useless value, then ban the people that are making fun of this noob, why not just trach the thread outright, pm the the new user, and warn them from there, wroks effectively in over @ SCLC, i see something that doesnt belong then ill lock it or trach it, pm the user, and go from there, and no problems, it isnt that hard...
