Much less, you obviously don't know me.

Quite simply... I will not tolerate openly bashing the staff, even in OT. Its a big peeve of mine. Thats why the thread was closed.
I agree. You are not on a power trip. Timzcat on the other hand needss to take a breath , I am sure he is exhausted from banning everything he comes in contact with.

I believe your post was in response to the banning of a member and I will address that concern. Please keep in mind three points. Evom is a private meeting place for open discussion. 'Open' does not connote disrespectful comments about persons nor the license to say what one pleases. The members are subject to the rules they agreed to when they signed up. Ninety percent of the moderator's actions are the direct result of a reported post by another member. And we work very hard to keep the site work and family friendly with OT getting the widest latitude.

Generally timeout is issued after repeated PM's by the mods to a member asking they knock off flaming or personal attacks and sometimes just plain mean posts. Bannings are a last resort after chronic violations of the site rules. Certain members come to the attention of the mods through reported posts and direct postings on a continuing basis. Eventually we give up and issue a short term ban hoping it will get his/her attention.

The thread you referred too was closed because it would end up being a flame-fest. As they get filled quickly with insightful comments such as "agreed" and which add nothing to the discussion. And this is the correct forum for such a discussion. Do we make mistakes? Of course and we are more than willing to fix them, but we will not tolerate the "in your face" abusive language and argumentative members who dominate many other sites. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Speedlimit....
Also I would like to point out I have never been messaged by any mod here regarding any of my posts. Yet I have been banned tho, twice actually . But never warned stating "hey your post is borderline timeout please correct it and make sure it doesn't happen again "

instead I get see you in a week. btw I was banned twice in the last month for a week a piece. No pm's no warnings nothing. both of my posts where not needed and should have been erased and a warning should have been sent. but a week a piece? Someone posted **** in OT and got 3 days !

I got a week for typing " gggggaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy" in a intake thread and " You must have a small ***** " in another thread. Both borderline , IMHO .

Live and learn but Also I would like to point out my trader rating here and the length of time I have been here. It would seem based on these things that I am a contributing member here and I deserve more respect from the moderating staff as I am not some troll from a different site here to start trouble.

All I ask is a PM. Heck that goes for anything and everyone , If anyone has ever had a problem with a post regardless of content I have corrected it , just for the sake of respect.

/end incoherent ramblings

I have an idea. Let's really stick it to the freedom of speech issue and turn this site into a multiple choice forum. The mods could make lists of appropriate things to say and their rebuttals, and then users could select from the list to portray what they wanted to say and possibly change some of the nouns for their situation, like Ad Libs. No one’s feelings would be hurt and everyone would be clones. You could still post pictures, but not before a week waiting period and a mod approval. /Sarcasm

This is getting ridiculous. I really think that new users should endure an extensive literacy test, but that’s just me.

if you close a thread, then another thread will start, saying why was my thread closed? mods can do it, but they would rather go into the thread read its useless value, then ban the people that are making fun of this noob, why not just trach the thread outright, pm the the new user, and warn them from there, wroks effectively in over @ SCLC, i see something that doesnt belong then ill lock it or trach it, pm the user, and go from there, and no problems, it isnt that hard...
Unfortunately, google search isn't an option anywhere I see on evoM I think a lot of the times the are just not quite educated how forums work. They see it as a chat room or question and answer spot.

While there are plenty of members who do search on a regular basis, there are those that don't as well. It always changes things when you have been around for a while, you see a ton of new threads that have already been discussed, but such is to be expected to an extent....

I agree with you that they obviously need to learn it, but I think the more important question is how!!

New members join the site daily! Many of them won't know what PM's are, the search option is, what FAQ's are... and many other things. We can all pretty much agree that they DO know what a search box looks like. Perhaps the mods can suggest that a Search BOX is added on the toolbar with a full type in window (if that makes sense) as opposed to a dropdown box.

Because people can, and may, still provide useful information?

I agree with you, The noob questions don't bother me as much as others I only get frustrated when there are many of them cluttering the front page because multiple users didnt look to see if any one else posted about it earlier . That right there is just asking for a hazing.

And to me thats all they need on good hazing and they will never make the same mistake. When a mod just closes a thread or deletes it the original poster thinks something is wrong and then starts a completely new thread stating "my last thread disappeared" and everything starts all over

There has got to be a better way.

Maybe make it so that the " new" members are restricted to just that , the newbie section, they can view the other sections just not contribute until 50 posts are reached in the Newbie section. There are plenty of us members that scan that forum daily looking for someone to help . We just don't like it looking for us if you catch my drift.

I know you are joking, but I'll still disagree. Just because he is NEW to something doesn't mean he can't/won't learn over time. I mean, you just don't wake up and know how to walk and talk... but over the course of time you learn these things.
