I think the minimum 15 posts rule for posting FS items should be modified.

Bob..
While I agree with the post count system not allowing people to just log into a site & spam away does work, it will not stop scammers. It WILL however filter out 75-85% of the lazy ones.. I like the idea of a minimum of 15 posts & the 15 day rule. I say this while I am still unable to post a for sale thread. Why? Because it gives you more time to learn the site, see how things interact, & has even allowed me to see HOW TO POST a thread properly, like every member should.
However, of the many threads I have gone through, the scams seem more to be taking place with KNOWN members, not necessarily the new ones. The ESTABLISHED members of the forum who have built up a reputation are the ones suddenly deciding to turn rogue, or are falling on hard times due to the economy & using the community as a way to make a fast buck. You never really know what someones situation is, or whats going on in thier head at the time they come to that decision, so I would not be so quick to dismiss a new member or member with low thread count but rather more cautious. ANYONE can become a scammer, sometimes their actions leading up to a partout, sudden quick sale of high end items, I usually try only to deal locally when it comes to pricey purchases, but Iam fortunate enough to live in the northeast where there are alot more parts available on the used end.....I may be new to this site, but have tons of vouches on other websites which anyone I sell to can readily see, as well as ebay account, paypal, & make it a habit of taking walkaround video of whatever items I sell....usually a scammer will not have this much internet footprint so thats a good way of weeding out who to purchase from..
Sorry for the rant, but I wish this idea would be implemented on alot of other sites.
Here's a fix to solve the post count & membership time issue: Charge a yearly (small) fee to belong
Take a cue from the Lancer forum in the UK: http://www.lancerregister.com/home.php
You can join for free, but they limit your post count to 20 per month & have restrictions on FS threads (LOL, I know, Ive hit the max). The membership includes some track related benefits and other things.
I would pay to belong

Institute an EVOM membership fee!!!
The point of this forum is information between members. Having an "EvoM" fee would deter a lot of potential members who do come here to communicate and provide feedback. Having a fee is stupid.
I do however support the idea to have a specific group(s) designated for those who want to donate to EvoM. For example, the sponsorship levels vendors have here. It would be possible to create equal levels for donations. Members who donate more could possibly experience more luxuries such as:
-No time limit between searches
-Larger PM allowance
-Distinguished Badge

The policy here is ok. better than 9glancer. 100 posts lol. ive been a member there for over a year and i have 51 posts. I try not to be like others who post small comments like "great job" or "+1". when i post i like to be informative or ask a valid question. I have bought and sold on this forum many times already.
I belong to another forum www.e-cigarette-forum.com they use ebay and paypal for member verification. the mods should stop by there and read there rules reguarding buying/selling/trading. they may find good ideas to implement here.
this is my 19th post here in over a year...lol and i visit this site everyday

Ive been here since 2006. I have about 40 PMs here but only 12 posts. Now 13. EDIT now 15. I had my post count up years ago but somehow they were deleted or lost... Kinda messed up.
Went to post my wheels for sale, and cant post them yet..... I am on here quite often, just lurk, read, and talk to the others that are local to me. Just trying not to spam with posts, because usually I see someone already make my point or what I think, so then whats the point if I post...
Can someone fix this?! I have been a legitimate user for over 6 years. I also have been on socalevo for several years too.... I think at this point its fairly safe to say Im not a spammer...

I have a similar problem, my native language is not english and usually I do not post because it is hard for me, and I only have less than a year with my VIII, but rules are here to be followed, just to be considered each case.
I think it's too much, some newbs are afraid to post because the frequent users bash them to hell, when just maybe they really haven't used a general forum before. And just to post in the for sale section Cmon man!
It was meant as a compliment, but you are a stand up person I would say based on your posts. As for scammers, I suppose there is no real litmus test that can be used to weed them out. I still feel that the less hardcore ones are somewhat deterred by a minimum post count/minimum site time. It is true that the scammers who do this for a living will be undeterred, hence the need to follow the procedures you laid out to protect yourself. I guess it is a sign of the times that there are so many people who think nothing of cheating another person for their own gain. However, I am firm believer that what you sow, you will reap and it will catch up with them one day.
I agree with this
