OK...I have a question about banning....

Rather then leaving it up to KK or the mods to ban someone...why not do what is exactly going on here....

Have a mod or KK himself post a poll on wether the person should or should not be banned and let the members of EVOM decide?

Now before I get flammed on this one...let me explain.

Why not let us vote on the person in question? Use that information and THEN go over with the mods and KK about it. At least it will give a good view from our perspective of what we would like to see. After all....aren't we the ones gaining or being hurt by having someone around like MP5?

Yes I do realize that sometimes people will have their friends vote one way or another.

Yes I do realize that people will be tempted to vote even though they don't know the person...the poster should put in like huge bold letters to only vote if you have had experiences with the person in question. Might help a little but it would at least get the message across that you should only vote if you have delt with the person.

Honestly...I think this way....or an iteration thereof is the best way to do it since we are the ones that are going to benifit or be hurt by the decision of the person in question being banned!

Go ahead and zing away, but I got so fed up with having MP5 post EVERY time Al had a post - I reported him repeatedly and asked the mods what their criteria were. Eventually, all the "informal counseling" caught up to him. I agree that he knew what he was talking about, but when you have to sift through 4 pages of arguing to get to the one good post, that's wrong for all of the members. To those of you who feel I "did him wrong" by reporting him, so be it. I have been very open with my criticism in this forum. I have been warned and informally PM'ed. No big deal - my goal by reporting nonsense is to try to add some usefulness for those of us that don't want to read some petty arguments before the interesting topic is discussed. If MP5 had made all of his comments in Off-Topic, I wouldn't have reported a thing. But since it interfered with the rest of the membership, I didn't want to stand by. My reporting had nothing to do with allegiances and everything to do with keeping the site drama-free. Hope you guys understand what I mean.

Mods - I've noticed your diligence in keeping the posts on-topic and insult-free. Keep up the good work.

I agree with this. Nice work guys.

MP5's negatives outweigh his positives. He turns this place into a soap opera. I little contraversy is OK, but 99% of his posts are picking some type of fight.

Can't someone that get banned just create another account? Even if they do ip banning, most ISPs uses dynamic ip's so it wouldn't matter. If that is correct, I don't understand what the big deal about it is? If someone knows, please let me know. I know I would just do that if I get banned permanently. Sorry if my assumptions are incorrect.

LOL I am not by any means saying that WE get the say so...just saying we should be able to post if WE want the person banned....then the info be given to the person deciding...much like a judge/jury thing but the judge have the ability to veto what we want if the reason is justified. We the "jury" say what we want....the person in charge (mod or KK) be the "judge" and makes the final decision but take our poll into account because we are whom benefit or are harmed from it.

I dont agree with the banning of MP5 on this board. The continual banning of people that not only greatly contribute to this forum, but also add some entertainment will turn this board into the equivilant of a online tech manual. I think that a seperate "anything goes" forum would be a great idea. In my opinion this board has gotten dull and borring since this crack down started. Evolutionm used to be the only evo related forum that I read on a regular basis, now I have numerous that I visit each day in search of things that I used to find on here.

Sorry about that, Eric. I just get tired of them fussing about your grammar usage/spelling becasue you type fast. It just isn't a big deal to me and people don't need to point it out constantly.

and then the silence...

Dragon, while it may seem like a good idea to post up a poll, I really don't think Mark or the Mods would ever, as a defacto rule, do this.

People will always have opinions. We will always take them into account when making a final decision on things. But a poll isn't needed to gauge things. We get a good idea regarding how people feel about an individual because we read every post in every thread, every day.

banning mp5 is not cool. simply b/c he is one of about 4-5 people that can chime in and let you know whats going on with vishnu when they are unavailable. and he and these other members provide very valuable info. when shiv can't be reached. so i voted: don't ban. like anyone cares

I am not too sure if it was somewhat directed at me, but if it was I am not taking any offense to it at all, I was just joking with Eric...he seems like a pretty cool guy and just figured I could joke with him. I apologize, and in return there is no apology needed cuz God knows I type fast as hell myself....don't know how many words per minute I can do but I know I make mistakes. Just seemed ironic to me that he was talking about being stupid while spelling stupid wrong....was kind of funny! Eric is a cool guy and I definately didn't mean any harm by it at all so if you did take some sort of offense to it E....I do apologize. Now I will stop wasting time on this subject...

If MP5 was to be banned....could I request because of his knowledge that he be limited to ONLY the Vishnu fourm including the XEDE section under Evo Engine Management. At least this way we can run to him when we need his assistance.

Ok...I can somewhat agree to that. I am sure it would take up a lot of time to go over what all people would say in the poll. Maybe just post up a poll...not giving the people to say anything at all (if that's possible). That way you could gauge the actual effect the person has on us the EVOM users? I'm definately not saying use this as a "this is how we want it or else" kind of thing...just as a gauge for the person that is about to be banned. At least you would have the Vote of people that don't usually post anything at all if they so choose to participate in the poll. Some people could have been affected by someone like MP5 or whom ever is on the chopping block and just not post anything at all about it because they wish to remain "out of the loop" so to say and don't want to be retaliated upon by anyone so they choose to say nothing. At least this way a "blind poll" vote would keep peoples names out of it and at least show you a good representation of what people here would like to see. If the people higher up still wish to choose to cut off the account of the person in question...they still can and probably will....but at least we got to have some sort of say so in it.

I sincerely didn't know you guys read EVERY post done. God damn guys...that must seriously suck! I knew you guys did read them sooner or later...but from the sounds of it...you guys read every post that comes through in it's entirety. WOW....that's a lot of work and computer time....I apologize I had no honest idea that is what actually went on. The fact still remains though that not everyone that has been touched good or bad by the person in question of being banned says anything here. You do see where I am trying to go with this right? I hope so cuz my fingers are getting tired! LOL

The only reason MP5 should have been banned is because he likes football.
