This is not a democracy. It's a benevolent dictatorship.

Make your own boards if you don't like how they're run.

Then if you get popular enough to have as many members as evom does, you'll find out how hard it is to actually moderate a board of this size.

Even on my boards where we've only got just under two thousand members, moderation could take my whole day.

Thank you mods for everything you do.

i have been a memeber of nasioc for the past 3 years and i have talked to you on there on a few occusions. if you want to keep saying that i said that you are stupid than go ahead, the bottom line is that i said that you are one of the smartest people and it is right there in my post. MP5 had no business even being on that thread and the sad part is that he knows it and admitted that he went too far. and no he wasn't well behaved and if you really want than i can pull many threads from the trash bin to show you just how many times we had to clean up the mess that he chose to leave. if you want keep acting like i am the bad guy and that i don't like you or him than by all means go ahead. all i know is that i talked to him and we are cool and he knows that i have done all that i can for him.

eric, i am curious to where you saw that i was saying that you are stupid in this text? i have read it 3 times now and all i see is me using you as an example of how you can disagree and still be mature

Ok...two things....

#1...MP5 is a very blunt and rude person at times. His coments are not wanted by others and they all want him to go. I think it's a very good idea....TO KEEP HIM! So what if he's brash and blunt...WHOOPTIE FUC*ING DOO!!! He might be too much for some...but he is a good guy to go to when it comes to needing tech help...XEDE or otherwise!

#2...Eric...please tell me your spelling stupid wrong on purpose!

OK, if this ban is permanent, than I'm ready to rise to the occasion and give input that needs to be seen.

Hi Everyone,

It is a damn shame as MP5 is probably one of the smartest people on these boards. I agree with the ban and it has nothing to do with increasing moderator work load. It was MP5’s disregard for other members as he would have easily won the prestige’s “involved in the most trashed threads this century” award. Most members saw only the tip of the ice berg.

If MP5 was such a national treasure for evolutionm.net then shame on all of you. You knew he had been banned before and was continually being warned. What kept you from PM’ing him with a caution to “tone it down” or “that was a bit insulting to that member” or “you’re dominating a thread”? I did.
You're incorrectly assuming that all of us visit the Dynoflash forum. I do not. I also didn't know MP5 was banned until I logged into the dyno thread and saw he was in TO, so I started investigating.

You have to realize that not all of us live off drama. Al ATTRACTS drama. He did it on NASIOC, and he does it here. I have done all I can to stop flaming Al, though, and also tried to help him out some.

Believe it or not, I have heard David actually recommend Dynoflash to people before. Its a pretty good value for an open loop tuned reflash! But some of us wanted more than just that. Still, even recently, David is very honest and fair. He talks to people, tries to understand their needs, and directs them to what he thinks is the honest fit for their needs. IMO, that is awesome and speaks volumes about his character. When I was installing cam gears, he gave me his cell phone number and let me run his minutes up becasue he gave me so much help.

The best internet forums I visit require little moderator intervention.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd love to see that put into practice over here. And this is where the ball drops and truth comes full circle. Look at places like Club Si's Si vs. All forum that have a lot more participants and where gigantic flame wars erupt all day every day. The moderators do not intervene at all in the "Versus" forum as it is contained, because they wisely understand that stuff like that will burn itself out. EvoM needs a place like this because these debates will always exist, and I agree with you guys that the tech forums should be protected.

That said, though, there is WAY too much intervention if David gets banned from the entire website over these warnings. Heck, ban him from the Dynoflash forum.. I TOTALLY support that. But to ban him from the tech forums is dramatic overkill of moderator intervention. To ban him from the Vishnu forum is just malicious and wrong. I understand my feelings on this part might **** you guys off, but banning him from Vishnu where he has only helped others isn't productive to the forum, its simply moderator Nazism run rampant. I've never encountered any premature ban like this at another forum anywhere on the web.

He could and did provide exceptional technical answers to members’ questions followed by a drive by shooting of a thread. Many of you sat back and watched him expertly rip a thread apart comfy in the knowledge that it was the moderator’s problem. We fixed it in the only manner left available to us and again it is a damn shame.

Speedlimit...
Again, OT forum and ban him from Dynoflash. Guys, being teachable is a good quality. Admitting you've made a hasty or overcharged decision takes a lot of humility. I'd like to see this rectified so everyone can be happy.

EvoM is great because it is centralized, but things like perma- banning MP5 will create a mass exodus from this place by members. Al's vendor account got banned becasue of deceit, but his personal account was allowed to remain intact. What is worse? Proof of unethical business practices (which he repented of I believe) or someone who is strong headed and wants to share what he believes to be truth? You guys really need to chew on that one.

I think you all know that if EvoM becomes completely one sided, or a total never-argue-nirvana that it would become ridiculous and boring. Shady stuff needs to be exposed! I don't want to get ripped off. The vibe I'm getting from this whole thing is kinda like a "If you aren't in our clique and disagree with us, YOU'RE OUT" type of deal. This country doesn't operate like that, so neither should this website!!!

Lastly, Speedlimit-

I was not directing this post at you or any one moderator at all, but rather the entire moderation staff to really think about. If things don't change and this ban stays permanent, I guess those of us who are helpful and try to provide aid to other Evolultion owners will have to start some crappy el-cheapo forum where we can communicate without the fear of being stomped into oblivion for having a strong opinion. Please don't let it come to this. A nation divided at the core like this is doomed to fail.

Are you guys lost or just can t read? Damn he was warned over 20 times! WTF does it take! I dont know him personally or anything about his particular situation, but the bottom line is the mods did what they felt was correct due to the fact that he was TO'd many times and warned many times. If he was that smart about it then he wouldnt have 4 TO's and 20 warnings!!!

Just a note: I have seen MP5 write at length about car audio and give very technically understandable explanations on how to chose audio equipment. He even explained how to set up det cans through the car's audio system. This was a benefit to all not just the Vishnu guys.

Perhaps if he thought his comments through before posting, this wouldnt be an issue. He doesnt most of the time though, and his presence is very annoying to most. Regardless of his knowledge, he turns threads into garbage. These are just my thoughts.

To that extent, I suppose banning him would be counterproductive. First off, he would just make a new account, right? Second, his actions seem almost seem trivial compared to some of the poop newer members try to post on this site. I mean theres some who claim to have seen the new Evo 9, some that come here claiming Evo ownership when really they are 14, etc. Those are the real pains.

So I guess what Im trying to say is MP5 is an annoying member, but dont ban him.

Hi guys.

I gave MP5 his most recent Warning.

Now before you jump down my throat or pat me on the back, I'd like to explain why I did what I did.

With MP5's most recent return from Time-out (OCT-03 I believe) he made promises to Mark and other Moderators that he would

1. Stop flaming and personally attacking people.
2. Stop constantly digging at all non-vishnu products.
3. Stop trolling in the Dynoflash and other Vendor forums.
4. Stop spreading OT posts all over the place.

It was made very clear to him that disobeying these simple rules would lead to a banning that would not be reversed. He agreed to shape up his behavior.

The Moderators agreed with Mark that we would attempt to discipline MP5 by editing his text and talking with him via PM's instead of automatically handing out official site warnings. So we conducted our Mod work this way wherever possible.

Things went well at first. MP5 made some great posts in the Vishnu and the Tech forums. But eventually MP5 began slipping back into his old character. He began flaming people again. He began trolling the Dynoflash and other Vendor forums looking for places where he could put down a non-Vishnu product. He began throwing OT posts into tech threads. Each instance of this was followed up by a pm from Mods suggesting that he correct his actions...and how he could correct his actions. Most instances required text editing to make his posts appropriate. Some required deleting of his posts all together. Warnings were only earned after multiple (5-10) infractions in a period of time, or after serious infractions of the site rules. But it was a normal week when 50% of the "report this thread" issuances were pertaining to MP5 posts. And it wasn't the same few people reporting those posts. Lots of different people, some more vocal on this site than others were highlighting MP5's inappropriate behavior to us.

This went on for a few months. Many Moderators on this site had ongoing dialogs (some positive and others not so positive) with MP5 regarding ways he could improve his behavior and ways he could avoid getting site warnings. But this had little to no effect. He would continuously 'yes' us to death in our contact with him. His actions rarely reflected any attempt to improve behavior. It was becoming clear to us that getting MP5 to act appropriately was a fruitless task.

So yesterday, after approximately 5 PM conversations in 2 weeks time and after asking him to cease and desist his current behavior pattern, he posted more OT stuff in a Dynoflash thread. It was clear to us, and to the individuals who reported the post to us, that MP5 was trying to stir the pot again. I decided it was time to give MP5 his warning.

We all realize that MP5 has a good technical knowledge base. But we also realize that there is a huge thorn associated with that rose. It is my opinion that the bad side of MP5 outweighed the good as of late. Afterall, what good is concise technical knowledge if it is constantly obscured by filth and controversy?

BRING MP5 back
LOL Are you in ghettoville??? "I so lazy" hehehe....

I spoke to MP5 about some Vishnu XEDE and some TurboXS difference....he's a good guy and gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for in an answer. This banning thing I personally think is maybe getting out of hand. I don't know the WHOLE story but yeah I have seen MP5 bite someones head off....usually it was justified but sometimes it wasn't. He's a good guy in my book and I really don't think he should be banned. Everyone just needs to relax and live life and understand...some of us don't know jack **** (nubies)....some know a little (me and the majority of evom).... others know a TON and we can learn from them (Shiv @ Vishnu, David Buschur, AL @ Dynoflash, Eric, Dan @ Mach V, Nathan @ TurboXS, and yes...MP5)

In the imortal words of Rodney King...."Can't We All Just Get Along?"
