Whether you Love 'em or Hate 'em Should Mp5 be banned?

I'm starting this poll because I think that MP5 is getting a raw deal with his current time out. As Robi and Fourdoor will attest, even though I am a "Vishnu" guy, I also have respect for other approaches. Getting rid of him of him is like throwing away a good dictionary because it contains cuss words. I like it when I am challenged by others on the weaknesses (percieved or real) on the Xede. MP5 may be outspoken, but he almost always has interesting and thought provoking points to make; even if you don't agree with his opinions.

Anyways..... To Mark. This is your site, but it is still the internet, whose culture is one of freedom of speech. Overpatrolling and overcontrolling can backfire on you just as easy as "everything goes."

I voted to keep MP5 around.

I think he's the dude that always had a different opinion than me but I still think we should keep him around. Different is not necessary bad. I'm for freedom of speech whether someone finds it insulting or not. If you don't like it - don't listen to it (read it).

As for MP5, he should be banned permanently. How many chances did we give the guy? 3 or 4 or so (and thats pretty much a fair chance), and yet he still acts the same way. Warning after warning, still no positive change. He went through, what, 3 bannings/Timeouts? He's had more than enough chances to straighten up. The mods have had it with him by now.

Many guys get banned after 50 posts. He has thousands of posts under his belt and has a very sharp wit, but has too much valuable information to share to be treated like a newbie.

He took hours of his time over the last six months giving me advice on problems with installs, etc. He has too much upside to be kicked to the curb.

I think MP5 does tend to try to **** people off, and I think he succeeds a good bit of the time I didn't know he was on time out, but I guess he broke whatever rules demand that punishment. However, I don't think he should be banned no more than I thought Al Friedman should have been banned. These draconian measures do not really work anyway and all they do is cause controversy. Hell, there is no way to keep him out anyway. For instance, Dynoking, has been kicked out lots of times. He just signs in under another name and continues to do whatever it was that got him suspended. Other guys do that too I'm sure. I think that notifying the rule breaker and establishing a time-out is a good idea. Permanent bans are not such a good idea IMHO.

Why don't you let the moderator's do their job? If they feel that he is out of line they will let him know.

here is what i think about the issue (if you care) :

i like MP5, actually i like David. i do think that he is a great guy and a lot of fun to talk to and he sure knows what he is talking about. However, there is a limit to what a person should do and what we as mods can take. He was banned like 3 or 4 times, he was brought back after he promised to stop causing problems. we have asked him many times to stop causing problems and help us make this board a more peaceful place with less drama. in the past 2 weeks all he did was start trouble on the dynoflash forum and 90% of the time is was uncalled for and without any reason. due to the fact that both me and Secret Chimp really like and respect the guy, he was asked to stop in a non formal way and without any warnings which would have put him in timeout (again). even after multiple e-mails and pm's and even IM'S where he said that he will take it easy and let us do our job, he kept coming back and trying to start more problems. if you think that we did the wrong thing than that is fine, just keep in mind that we gave him many chances and even tried to solve it in a non formal way. i told him myself many times that if only he used his knowledge to hel the board than things would be much better. instead, he chose to use his knowledge to start problems and make out life much harder than it has to be.

Look at it this way; if your brake pads are inefficient, you replace them. Moreover, you can only patch a flat tire so much...

I'm on this forum so much that it causes fights with my wife. David has mellowed and I haven't seen any flamefests lately that are pissing off everyone.

What I did see is this: MP5 questioned you on your knowledge of UTEC's closed loop boost and a few moments later he is in a timeout. Don't be so sensitive. This is the internet.

The following quote is MP5 responding to Blonde's post: "Interesting so it relies on the efficiency of whatever turbo is being used. You got confused didnt you " Shortly thereafter, MP5 was timed out.

This was a pointed comment, but hardly worthing of kicking a guy off the EVOM.

dude, this is exactly what i was talking about. you have no clue what you are talking about and you assume that you have it all figured out. after he questioned me on the closed loop i simply posted the text from turboxs about the closed loop boost. this had NOTHING to do with anything. do you really think that i would ban him or even talk to him about it? i am here to learn and if i am wrong than i thank the person for helping me out. i didn't ban MP5 but the reason he was banned was for a totally useless post that was uncalled for and he was warned by secret chimp and rightfully so. if you think that i banned him because he corrected me about UTEC boost control (even though i was right) than you are clueless and you might want to take a step back and think long and hard about how much you really know about the issue.
