Overmoderation?
I would like to suggest Mark implement a "reasoning system" when a mod chooses to delete a thread. It will send a PM with the reason the thread is deleted to all the participants (anyone who posted in that thread). I believe this will help stop threads like this from popping up (and threads like the one boe made to complain).
Glad we've finally seen a notice of step-up on control of the site. Always good to know. We've definitely upgraded our squad with the addition of new members (Doug, Jeremy, and Blain).
It's all good. When we modify threads (close, edit, delete, move), we do it for a good reason. About the street racing issues, you guys already know how we handle material such as those. It isn't anything new.
Like what playboy stated couple of posts above, present us with a thread that you think needs explanation. Like I've said, when we modify threads, we do it for good reason.
And Kareem, Boe's thread has been reinstated. I believe Jeremy made a small mistake in moving it to the Trash Forum just to remove a couple of posts. It ain't nothing.

If this thread was started because of just one thread that got closed, that's a crazy overstatment to make a general claim of overmoderation.

Sorry, seemed as though some levity was in order.

I really think that would be counterproductive. The only person who -needs- to know whan a thread is moved, edited, or deleted is the person who wrote the thread/post. That person is already supposed to get a pm when we make changes. If you were to inform everyone who participated in that thread, you would very likely just confuse and uselessly fill the mailboxes of this sites users. Most people don't care when a thread is deleted or their text is edited. This is a website after all...and not the US Constitution.

I don't see it happening.
I have posted in countless threads. If some of those threads got eventually closed or deleted a few days after I posted in them, I don't need to know why.
In fact, I would find it a nuisance if I got an email each time a thread was edited, closed or deleted. I get enough emails! huhu Am I the only one who thinks this way?

I understand deletion being a necessary evil for all members, but is it possible to close/lock the thread, then sticky it, and give an explanation then after say, 2 days, delete it? That way anyone who posted in the thread will know what happend to it, including the originator.
