I'm a time efficient person and it seems like taking 10 seconds to write the explanion, sticky it and lock it seems more time efficient than actually closing it and waiting for the PM or New thread to open, does that make sense?

I'll state it once more for good measure. Those who've delt with me before know I'm pretty laid back and willing to work or dicuss things. I'll even admit if I'm wrong. But I can't help you if you don't want to put the first foot out (and the same is true for most of the squad (I can't speak for them)).
I've said my peace.

On some days we edit/move/close/delete about 30% of the 75-100 new threads that appear on a busy day. That would make for a lot of stickies!
Again....if anyone feels they were wronged by the closing or editing of a thread, please feel free to pm whichever Moderator you feel most comfortable speaking with.

Thanks SC, that actually answered some questions for me. If you were to have a newbie asking the question, close the thread and pm them with the answer (link to original thread) then you could eliminate at least 3/4 of the stickies. But what about the threads that are actually long and worded (i.e. WMD's found! thread) which have several members. It was locked and reason was given (thanks to Pete) but had it been locked and stickied people wouldn't wonder what happend to it. Does that make sense?

Historically, stickied threads are reserved for threads that -everyone- should read. Stickying threads that are closed runs counter to that reasoning. Most threads get closed because they are inappropriate in content...ie, the site rules stipulate that we do not want people reading that content on this site.
If there was a way to automatically log threads that were deleted and why they were deleted, that could be useful. So if you couldn't find a thread you were looking for, your could click into the 'dead letter file' and see what thread titles were deleted and why they were deleted.

Most of the time, most of the members who are involved in the thread could care less what happend to it. We can't stress it enough! If you have a concern, shoot us a PM!

How possible would something like that be? I'd be willing to put the time in to help out with something like that.
