Yeah, you're neither of the two, but either way I have great respect for those two as well. I just don't get all the hubub

Yeah...I know I'm late here, but I wanted to add my $0.02. I have not been around much lately, but I have been visiting when I get the chance. I just took the time to read this thread beginning to end and would like to stress a few things.

1. Never feel intimidated with staff. We're here to help. Whether you think someone's a jerk or the nicest person on earth, we're all here to serve the forums. If you cannot come to some sort of understanding/agreement/arrangement with a particular staff member PLEASE appeal to a higher court (moderators > super moderators > administrator).
Also keep in mind though while we do want everyone to enjoy the site and have a good time (OT I'm looking in your direction) the emphasis on this site is NOT off topic. While we like to have it as a supplement to the forums it is not the basis of them. While we do allow a lot more leniency in regard to content in off topic we do have rules there.

2. Street racing threads will be trashed.

3. Sticking deleted threads will not happen as long as I have any say in the matter. A noble idea, but something that would ultimately cause clutter, and likely also cause competition for stickied/trashed threads. The notification (to the thread creator) feature of the updated vBulletin should more than suffice. Perhaps there is a way to make it update people subscribed to a closed/trashed thread would be notified, but notifying everyone who participated would undoubtedly create a greater annoyance than it's worth.

4. We will close threads as we see fit with reason. Kareem, I think you know us better than to think we would arbitrarily close threads however our reasons are kept to the staff. In most cases there is not cause to even notify other staff members.

5. I know you didn't anticipate this BSD, but in the future please cite examples. If you happen to see this happening again make note of it and notify one of us. We'll gladly review the thread and respond to you if nothing else.

6. The report function does not mean you will get a PM or e-mail response. It means the moderators of the forum involved will be notified via e-mail. Super Moderators and KK get e-mails for every forum (I believe). We will review the thread, but we may not act upon your request if we do not deem it necessary.

I think I've covered just about everything I can recall from the thread. If I've forgotten to address anything I'd be more than happy to if you let me know or ask me.

As those of you who have PMed me know I respond to all PM's. Please allow a couple of days for a response as I'm extremely busy, but you will get a reply.

EDIT: I forgot to mention....we get criticized for not intervening and we get criticized for overmoderating. Obviously it's part of the job, but please understand that we cannot make everyone happy. We do try to keep everyone appeased while observing our own guidelines. Please feel free to contact us if there are issues you would like addressed.

Like i said you just need to choose your words wisely instead of rambling or blurting out. I'm guilty of doing this sometimes but for the most part i've calmed down. I think a lot of peoples points are missed or overlooked because their attitude gets reflected to well in their words. This is a shame though as EVERYONE's opinions and voices are important here.

Sorry for not getting to this sooner. I'm having some problems w/ my email and I've been trying to figure out what's going on with that.

I'm waiting to hear back from the new place we'll be hosting at to know when to start on migrating things. It's going to be a big move, but I may be able to keep these forums online in an archive method (no new posts) so that people can at least do searches for the time when the move is going on.

We're upgrading to vb3 which is supposed to be intensive for sites w/ lots of attachements and posts. We're not the biggest site, but I still anticipate a few hours or more for that portion. From there, I'm going to upgrade the registry and also test things out on the site. After everything is working correctly, I'm going to look into upgrades for the forums.

As for the overmoderation... I understand where the members are coming from. As mods, we all walk a fine line of cleanup vs. control. As always, we're open to suggestions on here or by PM/email. You can also contact us about issues that arise on the boards. Not every suggestion will work, but if we see something that may help make an improvement on here, we'll definitely be interested in implementing it.

The main reason we don't want to have street racing threads on the forums is because they tend to glorify a dangerous activity. We used to have a Kill Forum on here and it attracted a lot of insults and flames... nothing really useful.
