Would one of you gurus be kind enough to answer my questions in Post #54 of this thread? I'm just trying to get a better understanding of this.
What parts do we need to have for an ECU flash? Also is it possible to get an ECU flash for pump gas (93 unleaded), and still use my UTEC for a race gas map? Thanks for your help.

Ecuflash is the name of the software used to tune the stock ecu. Thats it... The maps that your car runs (timing, fuel, limiters, etc) can be changed with ecuflash just like any other flashing software, and your car will run the new more agressive map while maintaing the factory ecu safety features. You will need nothing if you get jestr to tune your car. For you to have this control you woul dneed a tactrix cable and the downloadable software. The logging program evoscan can be purchased and is a great tool when using ecuflash. A wideband is also a must if you plan on touching any fuel tables. Most novices like myself tinker with maps that a tuner has already made for our cars...

On that note... you only need that stuff if YOU want to mess with the tune. He could have Jestr tweak his base tune to perfection for pump gas, then use the UTEC for race gas/alky. Jestr HAS ECUflash/cable

run map 0 for - bypass - for your 93 ecuflash on the ecu

and map 1 to 7 for what ever modification you want to do to the "stock 93" map

you got the WB tuner and MAP sensor? using the ucc for data logging?

Map zero? On my UTEC, I think I can store 5 seperate maps. How do you run a Map zero for bypass?

Thanks Zeus. This will suit me just fine. I would still like to know how to bypass the UTEC (by running map zero), when I want to just run on the stock ECU. Are you guys saying that map zero is included with my other maps, and that I can run it with just a turn of the switch or knob? (Pardon the newbie questions)

Bat:do you have a map selector switch connected to your utec? if not there is a little red rotating knob on the utec itself.

its been awhile since i played with the utec

when you run map "0", or bypass, you are running off the stock ecu. utec is not controlling iginition timing/fuel.

Basically someone needs to be the person to organize this. I have too much on my plate to do it right now.

However, it has been my experience with various dyno days that it is best to do it after the holidays. People tend to not flake out as much after the 1st of the year for obvious reasons.

I know I don't have a Map Selector Switch. However, I do know there is a red rotating knob on the UTEC (that I use to switch between maps). I'll check this out. I guess I just have to turn the knob to the "zero" position to perform the bypass.

Folks, has this tuning event been finalized?
