Track Days

I just wanted to check and see if anyone is doing any track days in the new few months in the SE area? I would love to get my 9 MR out at Road Atlanta, Barber or RR and see how it does.

There are various groups that run around the south and up the east coast. Check out seattime, chinmotorsports, and of course, nasa.

You're going to have a blast at Road Atlanta, awesome track. (Hope to make it there in the AMS Evo on the 14th)

If you haven't done track days before, just go easy where the walls are close, Road Atl can be harsh to mistakes.

When you want to give Roebling a try, come see me, I think I can help you out with that.

I've done probably eight events at Road Atlanta, still have a bit of nerves trying flat-footing it through 12!

I 'd love to see the AMS car there, I bet there's not much that could run with it...

There are P-cars there that were unreal, last time there was a full race car where you sit in the middle. 1200 pounds and 1000 HP car about a millions $. He was hitting 200+ on the back straight. I dont think ams could hang lol. Always someone faster with more money

LMP only hits about 185-190 down the back straight, close enough to 200 though.

I estimate that in the dry, we will run about 165-170 in the AMS car, plenty fast for a 3000 lb car. (LMP 1 is just under 2000 lbs)

As far as "much that can hang with it" (AMS car) I assume you are talking about other time attack cars, there are a couple that can give me a run I am sure (GSC car, Robi in his car, Robi in the Buschur car, i guess there are a couple other fast ones out west) The Sun Evo looks to be a bit faster than us at this point. I would hope to run low 1:30s there, and the LMP record is a 1:11 (the Norma I drove made it down to a 1:16 so even a slow LMP is MUCH faster than the Time Attack cars)

My first time at Road Atlanta I had trouble on the first lap of every session, so the first time I saw turn 12 was on a start, 2nd time through I was flat. (But in a Formula Ford, it's not that big of a deal) The harder part is sucking it up and going flat through turn 1. (Done it with the Formula Ford, and a Showroom Stock Neon.. won't be doing it in the AMS car)

I could see that, but I always feel that I could have pushed harder through 1...
My best lap in my Evo when it was stock was a 1:45mid, and was consistently in the 1:46's. God what fun!!!

I am planning on going for the 12,13,14 NASA event. Road Atlanta is one of the best tracks in the country.
1:45 in a stock evo is pretty quick, was that on stock tires too?

It was on toyo ra-1's with about four events on them. I think new tires would have been a little quicker, but not a whole lot.

yeah, they're the best, and then they cord. I've heard from many people, due to the tread squirming, that shaved ra-1's have actually lasted longer than full tread.

I get full tread, cause it rains in florida quite a bit at events.
