Desperate need of good mechanic
I am in FL (Melbourne) I moved out here a year ago and my car is falling appart on me, I don't know good mechanics in the area so I have just been dragging the car along hoping it will keep it together but its feeling worst by the day.
Symptoms:
1- When i try to start it (turn the key) it will turn on the lights and ac and then make a winney noise but the engine never starts, I have to get on the key multiple times and give out 10 prayers before the engine gets power. (I assume is issue with starter)
2- It rattles at low rpm and when I go on first it will shake before actually moving.
3- If I go over 12lbs of boos it will miss fire and "jump" so I have to take it down.
4- Burning gas like a m.f. I am spending almost twice on gas and going slower, and its so bad when you stand next to the car at idle you could get intoxicated.
So in summary its falling apart I took it to cassels garage 2 months ago and they put new spark plugs in (crappy cheap ones) and it was better for about 1 week before falling apart again, if someone can recommend a good mechanic that knows about our cars I would really appreciatte it because most of the places I've gone just hook the car up to a computer and tell me its all broken because its not within the spec (which is obvious) since its been programmed and modded.

Probably a starter or ignition system issue. what kind of noise does it make when you turn the key and it does not start? clicking, nothing etc ? Whiney isnt really descriptive...sounds stupid, but youve checked the battery right?

High RPMs and only when you boost. WOT or just anything over 12 lbs ? First and most obvious is the plugs. You said you got new ones, which is great, but useless if their gapped wrong, crap plugs, getting instantly fouled up etc. Pull them out and inspect for color/shape changes.

There is a couple shops in FL. more importantly, there is one or two that I would highly recommend staying away from. You should do a search on here for florida vendors and get some more information before you take your car to any shop, or get more recs via PM from people here. Just a thought....

[/b] Everything turns on but its like it doesnt give power to the engine or the power is not enough to ignite fuel and turn it on, I have to turn the key multiple times and press it hard before I feel that it "engages" and starts up, it sounds like when you try to turn on a car thats already on, not sure how to better describe it.

More info would help. the whole car shakes as it moves forward when I get on the gas, I have to press in the clutch again and give it way more gas so I can take it out at a higher rpm else the engine shakes all over you can hear a knocking sound and it barelly moves forward, it sounds like I'm not giving it enough gas but ive had it for years I know it shouldnt do that.

I know it is a long drive, but if you wanna come up to Jacksonville, I will take a look at it for you.
The starting issue sorta sounds like a weak battery, but if it making a grinding noise, it could possibly be the starter going out as well. Take it to autozone or advance auto parts and have them hook it up to there charging system tester, it is free...
The fuel issue could be a boost leak. If you have a boost leak the car will want to run rich, which will foul out the plugs quickly, and it will change the load the car will be hitting as well so it may be hitting boost cut because of this.
Also it could be rich as someone stated before, it may need a new front O2 sensor... I would have to log the fuel trims before making that determination.
The closest shops to you would be Titan Motorsports, Central Florida Turbo or Kings Performance in Orlando and AWD Motorsports in Coral Springs. You do not really wanna take the car to a joe schmoe garage as they will most likely not have a clue what the evo needs, will not gap the plugs properly, and you will pay for substandard service and parts.

I did some searching and this is what I found that is local that MIGHT be able to assist you. If nothing else, maybe they can point you at a Mitsu specific shop. Otherwise, you have to drive Orlando, Jacksonville, or SFL.

Clean your MAF senso out with MAF cleaner, change your COILS change your plugs to NGK brp7's gapped at you lowest .18 Check all your 02 sensors make sure they are still reading.. Log with a tactrix cable to do this.. Check your lines for boost leaks. etc etc etc Buy a new alternator check your starter by getting unde the car and putting a screwdriver in between the two screws on the starter. If your starter is good you will get a spark. Change your battery and then get a tune

) but luckily already have my evo back running goooood! It was as I suspected mainly starter and spark plugs issues among other tiny things they took great care off. Thanks everyone for all their help

Now, since it wasn't as bad as expected, I am on the hunt for a new clutch thinking CC stage 3 and a reflash after I brake in the new clutch, sounds like a good Christmas present to me
