Atlanta Dragway 4/9/04
Wow.....this thread was fun to read
I have to give a shout out to Ryan for driving an hour to help me with my front brakes, which took him about 30 seconds to explain in person. I was a little gun shy about knocking the drift pins out of the caliper so he drove over to help out.
Yes, I still have the Evo. I wasn't going to sell it, I was just pissed off at it. The good thing is that I was able to sell my engine parts. So while you guys are talking power I can say I have the lowest hp in the Atlanta area.
I kept all my suspension goodies, I like how the car handles.
Even with the sh&%y Kumbo Tires.
As for the discussion, I am interested in seeing the dyno results.
Also, I am looking forward to the next Evo meet.

Now THAT is what I like to hear, not BS about some Import show, you need to support your customers and this will show it. Shiv supports the Xede folks right?

Cool thanks.
Good to hear there are a couple of new 500+ hp shop 4G63s in town.

According to George, he expects substantially higher numbers after taking care of a few details. Apparently they could not run it with all the boost the turbo can make or the NOS because the upper intake pipe came loose......

I was wondering if he had problems, because that's a pretty narrow power band. I was also very surprised to see the power fall off before the stock redline.

Numbers will definitely vary between types of dynos, and I know the style dyno4mance uses generally reads low. The HP numbers weren't that bad, like I said, I was just a little surprised at the fall off before the stock redline and the small powerband.
Hey Paul.....this is Andrew, I see this has caused a stir over on gadsm forums...we only got to do about 3 pulls on Georges car before the IC pipe blew off...
we were not doing power runs at this point....we had not even turned the fuel pressure, or boost up ...this is the reason for the high end drop off....
the car is built to rev to 8500+ rpm....
because of the size of the Turbo it needs the nitrous to help it spool and also to further cool the intake charge...
So as you can see....very early to call foul, although just with the #'s it made on our dyno on Saturday equates to just over 700 flywheel horse power....so I guess Georges estimation of this car making a 1000hp might be realized
Regards...

Well, you can read the comments on GA DSM here http://gadsm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5543 (for those reading this thread who want to know what Andrew was referring to)
People will always have their opinions of what kind of magical numbers a car should produce, even more so when a shop promotes their vehicle. You can see, just as I have mentioned here, that my comments were far from calling foul. If you felt the GA DSMers were calling foul unncessarily though, I've got say I'm a little surprised you posted it here, not over there where the people making those comments were. I was just curious what caused power to fall off (a rather smooth fall off at that) before the stock rev limiter and a very short power band. I thought that to be rather unusual for a car with the mod list George's car had (also having seen it person), but I did give him the benefit of the doubt that they had a problem to work out. Even most of the comments, including the harsher ones, aren't about the peak horsepower potential, but rather the power band and drop off.
All of this is worthy conversational items, that's all I was trying to have.

I haven't Chimed in on this yet but here is my $.02
Although it is impressive 1000 Flywheel HP with a power curve like that means nothing. Unless you are building a car that is only ment to race in magazines. I would like to see some track numbers to back the HP rating up.

Oh and just add some fuel to the Fire. When Boost solutions have an oppertunity to run the car there is always an excuse of why they can't run.
Just bustin your ***** George. I just want to see it run!
Maybe @ Import Showdown.
Anyone here beat my 12.7 at 108 or am I the fastest Evo in GA?
