Ets ftl

I order an ETS stock battery upper intercooler pipe with tial bov and a 3/8" bung for ait sensor(for aem ems) on

June 8 2009.I receive pipe June 10.Open box up and instead of getting 3/8" bung(ait) it has a 1/8"(Meth Nozzle size).I call ETS

tell about bung. They ask if i can find bung locally.I find bung and i weld to pipe(same day i received it).At this point i go to

install it in the car.I put Pipe on and BOV is laying on radiator hose.I figured thats how its suppose to since they have probably

made a bunch.I go to close hood and i cant bov is squashing radiator hose and hitting hood vent.I call Michael up and tell him

whats going on.He says try to wiggle pipe and what not.I couldn't move it because it would hit hood if it went up and hose if i

clocked it down. That pipe goes back and i mark it up where i would like meth bungs since it was going back to ets anyway.I

receive new pipe its has correct ait bung but no meth bungs. No big deal on meth bungs pipe is thick enough so ill be able to

tap it.I go install pipe and its hitting fan shroud.I call michael and tell him whats going on and he says wiggle it around so it

clears.Nothing i do makes BOV clear shroud.I leave car alone for a week or so and then i go back and try to make it work.I get

a couple friends to take a 2nd look if they saw anything i wasn't seeing.I call Chris this and let him know im still having issue

with BOV.He says i should go to short route small battery. He would give me a good deal on a small battery kit that was made

wrong and it doesnt fit with stock airbox or something like that for $175.I say no because i had kit before and it was too much

trouble with dead batteries.

I tell chris i will be shipping pipe next day and ive marked where i want the bungs(which they forgot) and the

direction bov flange needs to go.I receive third pipe.Im inspecting it and it looks like everthing

is ok two meth bungs and ait bung.I thread in one meth nozzle.I go to thread the other nothing its not going in.I look at bung

and its defective(shows how much attention fabriator is paying)QC mishap i say.I end up tapping and plugging up defective

bung.Once again its ready to go back in the car.Bolt BOV to pipe go to install and bov flange is facing down even more then

before.I take bov off pipe and install pipe. The new flange they installed was shorter(good thing) but it was clocked down more

then before(bad). Now BOV doesn't even fit between fan shroud and pipe.I call michael again i tell him the problem he says

can you wiggle pipe etc. Of course it doesnt work.I tell him its still wrong he says send it back.I tell him showdown is in two

weeks so i need it back fast.He says next day it to us and we will next day it back to you.I ask if they can send me a label and

he says that they only pay for ground returns for warranty work.I ask them if i ship ground can you next day it to me.He says

yea sure but you would have to pay the difference between ground and next day.At this point im furious and i tell him that ill

take care of it.So i did i cut it welded it and got it powder coated.Customer service was there Michael and Chris are good

guys. Its not their fault their QC sucks.

That sounds kind of bizarre. Did you take any pictures of it or anything? ETS is usually top notch with everything I've ever gotten from them. Always.

Pipe 1 and 2 Left one placed bov on radiator hose and hood didn't close.

Pipe 2 bov hitting fan shroud

Pipe 3 had to cut and rotate bov up so it was off fan shroud

Pipe3 Rewelded by me.picking it up from powder coating thursday

It seems to me like the tial bov flange should have been welded on the opposite side .. the way they put it is obvious that the hood would close... that is a shame man. sorry to hear all of this..

Hello Jose,

This post is not entirely true. The first pipe was built wrong so we call tagged the pipe back, rebuilt the pipe to his specs and sent it back. Jose forgot to mention that he was running meth and needed the meth bungs installed. Since this was not our bad, we had him send the pipe back and we would send it back the same way he shipped it. We built a new pipe for no charge and sent it back to him. Jose said the blow off valve was touching the shroud of the fan, so he sent the pipe back with everything marked out where he wanted the blow off valve, ait bung, 2x meth bungs. We made the pipe to exact locations and sent the pipe next day air on our dime. Now, since he put the blow off valve in the wrong location on the pipe he sent to us, he wants us to build another pipe? We said we would build another pipe, but we are not paying for next day shipping both ways, we would match whatever shipping he paid for.

We have built 4 pipes to try to help jose out and still nothing is working. We have since discontinued the pipe, but we are still trying to help him out.

We also tried to help the situation and offer him a mini battery at cost and build a short route pipe to replace his stock battery.

Again, the last pipe that was sent back to us had everything marked in place, we jigged the pipe and sent it to him exactly how he had it laid out.

Thanks For Your Time,

Michael

Wow...seems to me the OP wants the impossible to happen. You are working with the stock battery...how much room do you think there is? Secondly, what is the point of running a Tial 50mm bov on stock MAF? If you prefer herky jerky drivability so be it I guess. Why don't you just go short route and you could have everything done right the first time. You realize that a medium sized Braille small battery is stronger than the OEM right? All this money spend could have had a short route piece, mini battery (stronger than OEM), and everything done right the first time. Research and planning out ahead of time is a good virtue to follow...not rushing into things with deadlines.

Here are the pictures of the pipe Jose sent back. We jigged this pipe and built it to his specs. Jose was also notified this is not a pipe that we offer, but that we were willing to build to help him out. We offer all the bung options as a courtesy so the customer will not have to modify or ruin his coating to add these options.

We also added the meth bungs for free... something that we were not informed of on the original pipe.

I forgot to mention that we removed the intercooler pipe we had on our evo and installed this to make sure everything fit before shippnig it out. (The car isn't exactly stock, so we had to install the stock battery, battery tray, fan shroud, etc) We went the extra mile to try to get Jose what he needed.

Future Note:

We also don't recommend the stock battery upper pipe for running meth. The meth will need to travel a 90 degree bend before making it into the intake manifold. This causes the meth to pool up at the 90 and enter into the first couple of cylinders and not distribute evenly. We do understand that some customers want to run a stock battery so we try to help as much as we can.

Again, Thanks for taking the time to read our response.

Michael
