Next, we activated the methanol, using my injection and A/F strategy + Shiv's tuning. The results were rather spectacular.

Remember, this is 93 octane + methanol injection. NO race fuel was used.

Results:

348 whp @ 6400rpm

338 ft/lbs @ 4400rpm

Wow, those numbers are serious, i think i may trade my 272s back in for 280s now since im seeing so many positive results. Ted, where did you get the SMC alky kit?

The idle quality of the HKS 280 cam set is influenced by the cam timing settings. I elected to use a setting that would ordinarily cause bad idle (tight LSA), but I advanced the intake cam 2 deg, which offset this nicely.

Let's just say that it sounds like it's very angry. The idle is very choppy, but solid and strong. I'm quite happy with it and impressed with the overall performance.

Gotchya, well i guess idles is not a big issue if ur pumping out 340 HP with no race gas......thats crazy how much an alky injection kit can improve performance. Again, those are great numbers. Ur gonna have to take it to the strip and post some time slips soon!

Here is an overlay so you can see the difference between the 93 vs. the 93 + methanol.

What is interesting to note is the midrange boost was kept to only 25psi, so most of the difference you're seeing is the result of the methanol.

Ted, with your experience with both types of camshafts would you reccomend the 280s over the 272s and secondly where did you get your SMC alcohol kit...sorry to bother you with this question.

Wow, very impressive by any standards. How does its performance compare to your 272 set up? Did you do both tunes on dyno4mance's dyno? Congrats!

i looked at your car saturday. Sucks I didnt get to see it run. I came down to hang out for a lil while and to get updated to V3, but found out I couldnt really get updated without a retune so I watched a couple more cars and then headed back for home.

Ted, you torque is what is blowing me away. As you know, you have another 1.5 lbs of boost left in that midrange powerband...

Are you happy?

What is it like to drive?

How does it idle?

(inquiring minds want to know)

Good question Kwman, I am interested in finding this out too. Also, Ted did you have to upgrade the springs and retainers with these camshafts?
